Has anyone ordered baskets from DLH? I was thinking of getting one for my son's birthday and one for my 9 year old so he won't fell left out. Any suggestions? How far in advance should I call? Are they all pre-made or can you pick and choose what goes in to them? Thanks , this is our first time staying on site and I want it to be extra-special!

You can do either- order a premade or a made to order. The made to order ones have a pretty hefty service/shopping charge added on. Call vacation planning and have them email you the list of current options.

I don't know about making your own through Vacay Planning, never done it. I did however order the Ears to You baskets for our November 2005 trip. I dealt with John Walsh and he was amazing!!! I was not that impressed with our "baskets" (will post a picture at the end of the post) but the customer service was excellent. Also, you can make your own baskets and give them to bell services and they will deliver them to your room; if you want them to be a surprise you can have them delivered while you are at the parks.

That sounds really cute, but still too 'young' for my DS, who will be heading into potty training shortly (no onesies!), and he is beginning to object to the sippy cups - Wants either a lid w/straw or no lid at all! If they changed the onesie to a Pooh t-shirt and the sippy to a lid with straw, that would be perfect!

Is there anything special about the container itself? If I could just purchase the items myself, then maybe they could assemble into a basket and place in the room as a surprise...?

Also, you can request from Vacay Planning a signed photo from your childs favorite character (except Tinkerbell-I was told that Tink flies too fast for them to get a good picture of! TOO CUTE!) We have received one of all of the Princesses in front of the castle (they all signed) and one of the Fab Five, signed as well. Cute and free!

If you bring your own baskets, do you have the bellman bring them up with the rest of your luggage, then go to the park for a while before you go to your room for the first time? Or do you have them hold just the baskets and bring the rest of your luggage to your room right when you check in, then call them to bring the baskets later while you are gone? If you did it the first way, how would you tip the bellman? (We bring too much stuff not to tip them!)

The pre-made baskets sound a little expensive - and don't seem like they have the stuff my kids would really love in them. It would be fun to do something like that, though!

I did three baskets for our last trip which included the California Cooler for my 17 year old son which he loved! The Marvelous Mickey for my 10 year old son and Marvelous Minnie for my 8 year old daughter. They absolutely loved them and half the excitement was them being there when we arrived. We did this at WDW and they didn't put them in the room they just handed them to them when we checked in. I highly recommend any of these baskets. I also used John Walsh and I must tell you he planned everything for our vacation perfectly. By the way the Marvelous Minnie was the 50th Anniversary and soooo cute! We are going back in October and I am wondering if they might have Halloween baskets then!

OMG!

Yesterday I sent an email to Vacation Planning, asking a few questions about either modifying the contents of one of their baskets, or having them create a basket of items I purchase separately.

What I got back in response today was another guest's order information, including VISA card number, expiration date and name! I about fell out of my chair!

I just called their phone number, but they must be gone for the day. I expect I will get a speedy response to my phone message tomorrow.

Needless to say, IF I order something through them, it will not be via email!

Finally got an email response from Disney late today. Very apologetic, assuring me they are doing everything they can to research how this could have occurred so that it doesn't happen again. Nicely worded, I thought.

And the other guest? She also emailed me (because I cc'd her on the email to Disney.) Was she miffed that her credit card is being passed around cyberspace? Was she thankful I'm such an honest person I let her and Disney know this problem occurred? Not exactly. She's clarifying her order to me, apparently thinking I'm connected to Disney! OY...

That's a very scary incident. We've used VP on our last 2 trips and had great expereinces with them. On our last trip, we had a tough time getting VP on the phone, constant phone tag. We wanted to order baskets for our kids but VP told us we needed to call in or fax in a credit card. They advised not sending cc information via email. We finally got a hold of John and left him our CC. We emailed each other after that to finalize Priority seatings and which baskets to order. My dd had balloons waiting for her at the front desk on her birthday and both kids got autograph pictures (one of the princesses and one or Mickey & Minnie) and birthday buittons. We ended up ordering The Princess fairtytale basket for dd and the Lunch with characters lunch sack for ds. The baskets were waiting for them when we got back from swimming on our first day. My kids thought it was such a kick that Mickey & the gang got them something (it had a little personalized message addressed to them). Ds used his lunch box to bring snacks to the pool during our stay and dd insisted we save her basket for her easter basket this year. Dh ended up leaving little toys and treats on the bed while we went back to the parks after afternoon swim and nap. The kids looked forward to going back to the hotel at the end of the night to see what treats Mickey left for them.

If someone can tell me how to add photos, I'd add the pictures we took of the gift baskets we ordered.
