Let's see if this works

I didn't have a chance to take a picture once the kdis opened it up but here's what each basket contained. Princesses: pink organza basket, minnie 50th beanie, crown, princess autograph book w/ phot inserts, brush with 4 princess figurines, Princess pen wand, a pricness notepad, princess acitivity set, princess candy necklance, princess lollipops ($85 + tax). Mickey lunch sack, mickey mug, mickey puzzle, whirly lollipop, pretzels, charcter cookies ($33 + tax)

From the posts, I gathered that you can just order signed character photos (?). Is this a bonus when you order gift baskets, or can you do this on its own? What is the cost for this service?

I don't know if you can just request one...well, you probably can! But I know when you tell the hotel staff that you are celebrating an occasion (ie. child's birthday) they will usually do at least an autographed photo of the character in the room as a surprise.

I am going to call about 3 days before our trip to confirm all our reservations and room request info, and will make sure they know A) It's our 1st trip to DL! and B) We'll be celebrating DS1's 2nd birthday. I am sure they'll do something special for him, but also was thinking of a gift basket for each boy, just as a nice surprise.

PS. Victorandbellasmom, thank you for posting the photo - I think the boys would really like the Mickey lunch sack!

Thanks for the pictures ! I can't wait! Were the cards signed from Mickey and Minnie?

We just got back from the Paradise Pier Hotel, and they had the little fun packs for the kids & a birthday button for each of them, but they didn't give them to them at check-in. I asked about them and they gave them to me (they had them ready), but I don't think that is the same as the kids receiving them when they arrived at the hotel. There were also no autographed pics -- there were a few pages to color (no crayons -- but I went to the gift shop & got them crayons), and couple of postcards, with balloons attached.

Just be prepared that some people get the autographs, and some don't - it depends who's working the desk, I think.

By "fun packs" do you mean a gift basket you ordered? Or is there something else they will give to the kids upon request?

About the autographed picture; I'm wondering if I asked for it when I call before we arrive, they may have a chance to get that and leave it in the room or give it to us at check-in? (In other words, maybe it's something they try to accomodate if asked and if time permits?) I'll try it out. DS5 would absolutely LOVE a photo of Buzz or Woody, and DS1 would love a picture of just about anything, but would recognize Mickey or Winnie the Pooh. :)

I was told by John in vacation planning that he noted "the magic" would be available at check in for the birthday boy , so maybe a call in advance is all they need, especially if you booked on-line. Also he said it is the front desk that handles balloons, not VP.

There's another thread about getting autographed pictures in which Mary Jo said she requested ahead of time for some autographed photos, balloons and "fun packs" for her nephews, then even confirmed her request at a pre-registration the day of arrival. Then when her family arrived to check in, it wasn't there. She arrived later in the day and asked what happened, so the front desk gave her the fun packs and balloons (ready, but not in the room or given to the family when they checked in), but they never did get autographed pictures. Disappointing!

I'm hoping it was just a glitch, and that when we go the boys get something in the room, even if it is just a picture - I think they would just love it!

Hmmm... Saturday morning I emailed Vacation Planning, requesting they email a list of their gift baskets. So far, nothing.

I was planning to order the baskets via phone anyway, just wanted to review the list first and make sure I got the items I want (and the baskets were safe for my almost-2-yo.) Between this, the email fiasco (involving someone else's credit card number), and the vacation planning DVD (requested in January, just arrived yesterday), I'm losing a bit of my enthusiasm...

I called and they immediatly e-mailed the list, try that ! Both people I spoke to were great , very patient and we good about discribing the contents if I had questions. I would have sent you mine but I deleted it in fear my sons would see it !
