was at disney springs monday ate lunch at chicken guy headed to gideons for a cookie& some coffee, but upon turning the corner boom 45 minute wait! is the only strategy to get there at opening or whats the strategy to get in without waiting to long?

Were they running the virtual queue? If so, it is a good idea to get on that list as soon as you arrive if you're going to be spending a little time at Disney Springs. They will call you when it's time, though there can still be a short line. Getting there early is not a bad idea, though on some days the line can be pretty long too. If you're coming on a bus from a resort, it may alreaydy be pretty long.

You ask the employees out front. Usually one is stationed around the corner from the entrance (opposite the way the line goes) on the little elevated spot. They can take your phone number. They don't always run that, depending on how busy it is or the time of day (like they don't start it first thing). It's actually the only way to join the line once they implement it.

We were so curious to see what all the fuss was about, but had to no desire to wait in any type of lines to find out. The other location doesn't have the exact same items that's at DS, but we didn't care, we just wanted to try the cookies. I don't have the address, but if you google it, you can easily find it. The location is inside this little place with other food places and stores.

It’s north of Disney World. If you plan it out, can be a nice stop on the way to MCO so you arrive home with a fresh batch without having to get into DS on departure day and stand in a line.

What exactly is it that they sell that is so great that causes that long line? I’m not a fan of cookies/cake/baked goods so it’s never interested me.

Well, they sell cookies/cake/baked goods, so....

Honestly, the cookies are either a love 'em or hate 'em thing. Personally, I love 'em! They are big and crusted with toppings and just a little doughy inside. For me, they hit (favorite is pistachio!), but not everybody likes that. The cake and coffee drinks are also popular. The real hook though is the theme - the place inside is very cool, in a mystic, macabre kind of way. The little character cards that they throw in and all of the other trappings really enhance their popularity.

Try reserving Gideon’s for a day when you’re not in the parks and not in a tight ADR situation.

The other bakery is a good 40 minutes away so if you consider the ride each way total ~ you might as well wait in line. And it is not on the way to MCO so plan a lot of extra time to go out of your way.

Our experience has been that that queue isn't always open. We've tried to join it a few different times and always been told the only option is to join the physical line.

Yes, but typically if they aren't running the virtual queue, the line shouldn't be all that long - at least in theory. Your mileage may vary on that I suppose.

I'm honestly not sure how long the wait would have been but each time we tried the line stretched along the side of this building and ended about where I've marked with the star. Any idea how long our wait may have been?

Yes, and thanks! Great to get an idea of the wait. Unfortunately each time we've tried it's been at the end of a long day and we just didn't have it in us to join the queue. Good to know how we can gauge the wait next time.

Well, it's kind of an educated guess, but it feels right. I lined up one morning before openign and was a bit past the corner, and I think it was about 45 minutes. It can depend though. Keep in mind when you return from a virtual queue call, the line can be about 3/4 to the corner anyway.
