Gideon's Bakehouse

I so wish they mailed their cookies. I have been craving them since I got back from my December trip

Are all their cookies rolled in chocolate chips or other chips?
They appear to be smashed into the partially underbaked cookie after baking. There appears to be more chocolate chips than cookie.

They're not underbaked. The owner, Steve Lewis, spent 15 years perfecting the recipe that gives you a fully baked cookie that tastes deceptively underbaked. And yes, you have to like chocolate to like most of the cookies. But I could point you to the direction of the coffee cake cookie or the peanut butter cookie if you're not big on chocolate...

I just tried the cookies and cream and I think I agree with your assessment. Its not bad, but not my favorite. So far that honor goes to the peanut butter crunch for me. 😊

I've been obsessed with Gideon's since Disney Food Blog would fan-girl about their chocolate chip cookie that used to be sold at Polite Pig & I found them on Instagram & found the selection at their East End Market location had SO MANY flavors, plus cake slices & cookie bites. We Uber-ed there in 2019 (it was from Universal & about $50 each way!) & got to try the mint chocolate chip, white chocolate coffee, chocolate chip, cookies & cream & peanut butter crisp. PB is definitely my favorite! We followed the advice on IG to freeze their cookies to enjoy them year round & it's been great. We need to restock our freezer so I'm looking forward to the coffee cake cookie & hot cookie hour. Oh! I want to try the PB cold brew also!

Do you prefer non-chocolate cookies? I seriously cannot wait to come home in 5 days and eat my favorite dessert to boot!!!:)

They have the cake slices at Disney Springs too! There was red velvet, chocolate chip mint, and cookies and cream if remember right. But they don’t have the cookie bites yet. They said hopefully by next month they should be stocking them.

SAME!!!! Buses to Disney Springs ALWAYS suck, no matter where you are staying! I guess that's the one perk of staying at Saratoga... And that same exact thing has happened to us at the airport when we have tried to bring our cookies through TSA security- we will FOR SURE be stocking up again this time! Thanks for the info about the coffee cake cookie- that's also super helpful... Curious what time you got in for that hot cookie hour when you signed up at 5:30 (oh and does that mean that you got in line to sign up for the virtual queue at 5:30 or you reached the front of the line to sign up for the virtual queue at 5:30 lol)? Did you like the vanilla or chocolate ice cream better w/ the cookie? I LOVE chocolate and PB but think that may overpower the flavor of the cookie a bit... :) :p
All food must now be screened separately, it's been that way for a while, even before the pandemic.

I think I’m leaning that way. I think what I didn’t like about the cookies and cream was that the Oreos weren’t crunchy. My brain just screams stale when they don’t crunch.

That is definitely dedication. 😊I live here and didn’t know about the original location at East End. 😳😳😳 I enjoyed the coffee cake but I still am leaning towards the peanut butter crunch being my favorite.

When I visited last Sunday we got in the virtual wait list at around 9:45am. They told us it would be 3 hours when in reality it only took 90 minutes. We grabbed breakfast and did a bit of shopping before we got the call back text. Once we got in the physical line it was about 15 minutes until we were in.

The cookies are fantastic. I’m planning to go back again during our early February visit. The chocolate chip was my favorite, but I really liked all four cookies we tried. I’m itching to try the other flavors and a cake slice upon our return.

Has anybody tried the peanut butter cold brew or the gingersnap cold brew? I typically hate coffee and coffee flavored things, but I LOVE peanut butter, and I've heard that even non-coffee lovers may like it....

I watched The Dis Team review the peanut butter cold brew on You Tube. I believe it can be found under the Disney Dining channel. Craig really liked it & said there was very little coffee taste. I haven't heard much about the gingersnap cold brew.

Is the virtual queue for the hot hour separate from the normal? I see someone said they got in the queue for it at 5:30 recently....just curious if there's a distinction or all the same queue.

Will they still have the VQ late next week? Is this an ongoing thing? I am coming to Disney On Saturday 6th of Feb and be there till Monday the 15th of Feb, I'm assuming a weekday morning would not be as busy?

Yes, weekday mornings are less busy. They begin the VQ when the standby line gets too long. So if you arrive and the line isn't long, then you will be able to just hop right in line and wait. They should still be using the VQ when you are there. We visited on Sunday at 9:45 am and they already had started the VQ, and a lot of Disney Springs wasn't even fully open yet. Honestly, the VQ wait was nicer than standing in line for a long time. We grabbed Starbucks, walked around, and did some shopping before they called us back. Once they did it was only a 10 minute wait to get inside. They estimated a 3-hour wait and it ended up being around 75 minutes.

They only put in in place when line gets too long. So it varies day to day.
