Ghosts

I've had several experiences, two that stand out to me. They are both things I dont talk about except to family... but I will say one was kind, one was evil. I cant explain anything further than that (becaue I saw them, but dont know why.)... but they exist. When you see an evil one it will scare the living crud out of you, and when you see a kind one you will feel a peace or calm. Dont worry. It's not hard to know the difference. IMO experience only. I cant speak for anyone else.

Absolutely. Our house has one and I believe it is a female, although I've neve seen 'her. I do hear her and have seen her moving the vertical blinds in the kitchen before. She has also opened the door to the garage before.

Sorry, I have been with many dead and dying people and my answer is Nope, Nada, Zilch!

People die every day. How come people only see ghosts dressed in old, period clothing? I want to see one in shorts, flip-flops and a Hawaiian shirt.:confused3

Actually, one of the few times that I thought I did see a "ghost," he was a young man wearing jeans, tennis shoes and a polo shirt. He was there, then he was gone. :confused3

Ghost? Nope. I believe that when a human being dies, his or her soul goes immediately to either heaven or hell.

However, I do believe in angels and demons, both of which can show themselves or disguise themselves if it suits their purposes (or perhaps it's proper to say His purposes). Those demons could certainly garner fear or disbelief by masquerading themselves as what people consider "ghosts".
:thumbsup2

I've seen spirits since I was very little(before I even knew what a spirit or ghost was). We used to live next door to a centuries old cemetery and I used to ask Mom why there were so many nicely dressed people wandering around my room at night...needless to say, this didn't help me with the whole scared of the dark situation:rotfl: Over the years, I have had some pretty interesting experiences, some pleasant, some I would rather not relive(there is a long stretch of road I will go out of my way to avoid at all costs now)

Both my DM and DGGM both did as well. My DS has not seen anything, but she tends to hear things...whispering,children laughing, etc.

I've seen ghosts in everything from old clothing to the most modern of clothing.

Also, I worked in a nursing home for years and I could tell you stories that would blow your mind. I wasn't the only one there. Plenty of us "knew" if someone was going to pass very soon and it wasn't because they were in bad shape:scared1:

We had an experience a couple weeks ago that I swear was supernatural. My mom and I drove to a nearby town so she could show me where a church was where I was attending a wedding that Saturday. On our way back, she took a wrong turn and we had to turn around. Well we turned around in a driveway, and to one side was a long, tall, fence. No one was standing by the fence when we turned around. Well, when she got turned around, I looked and an old man was standing there. He WAS NOT THERE when we pulled into the driveway, and the fence was too tall for anyone to climb. The headlights hit him and went STRAIGHT THROUGH him, and when I looked back about ten seconds later, he'd vanished. My mom even believes it was a ghost.

Another time, we went somewhere and when we came home, the door to the closet where our AC system is was standing wide open. It was shut when we left, and the only way to open it is to jerk it open pretty hard. My dad was at work and the rest of us weren't home, as I said. And the door was SHUT when we left. Our town was a major center for Civil War battles, so I wonder if perhaps some soldiers still haunt the area. We have a large Confederate cemetery right up the road from our house.

I for one would love to hear them. I love hearing about people's supernatural experiences.

Sounds familiar...

I firmly believe someone in a position (career) that deals with death on a regular basis wouldnt be shown things. How could you do your job everyday if you were? You couldnt. I believe only certain people are shown things... I dont know the "why" though. :confused3

My next door neighbor's mother died in my house - she had an aneurysm while pregnant with her 4th daughter - they resuscitated her long enough to deliver her baby but she died immediately after that. Her DH raised those 4 little girls in this house by himself. He later bought an empty lot next to my house and built a new house (the one my neighbor lives in now). Supposedly, he intended to knock down my house and build a garage. The demolition crew showed up and he sat down on the porch of this house and cried my neighbor said he just could not do it...he called of the demolition and then rented this house for years. He passed away about 20 years ago now.

Anyway, when I first moved in, it was just DH and I. I used to think I was hearing footsteps in the attic. Then one day, I was vacuuming the floor and a baseball cap that was on a bookshelf across the room flew across the room and hit me in the head. Totally freaked me out! Then appliances would turn themselves off, turn themselves on, the tv would mute itself, remotes would slide across the living room...all kinds of weird stuff. It didn't seem scary or threatening to me, just freaky. It mostly happened to me, and DH thought I was nuts.:rotfl:

Then I went to visit my parents for a long weekend and left him here alone. All the stuff that had been happening to me? Happened to him, too. Appliance issues, tv volume problems, and the remote slid off one chair across the room to him. Not only that, he went to bed one night, and he saw the figure of an old man sitting on the end of the bed. He turned his head in disbelief, and when he looked back - it was gone.

We've been here for 12 years now, and have always had strange things happen. Now that we have kids, it's stuff with toys. My kids also talk about the ghost that lives in DS's room (the same room that DH saw the figure). I've never wanted to scare them, so we don't talk about ghosts or watch programs about them. They came up with it on their own. When DD was almost 3, she came up to me and told me "an old man lives in Joe's closet." I asked her if he scared her, and she said, "No, he's nice...like Papa."

I did have an issue for a long time. At 3:06 am every night, some electronic toy would go off - loud, and continue to make noise until I found it and popped the batteries out. Always at the exactly the same time. I took every single battery out of toys that make noise because it was nightly for months.:headache: Then it turned into other noises being made. I took the advice of a dear friend and sat down at my kitchen table one morning after kids went to school and asked the "ghost" if he would please stop with the noise in the night. That it scared me, occasionally woke up the kids, and I couldn't get back to sleep afterward. It stopped for the most part - now happens about twice a month rather than nightly.

The only thing that still remains? My doorbell rings all the time by itself. When I started responding to this post it rang twice in a row. We've done everything except remove the darned thing and still have problems with it. It's one of the things that occasionally rings at 3:06am. I felt really dumb one morning. DH had one other Cub-scout dad drop something off early after he had gone to work. I was running around in my tee shirt and underwear trying to get kid's fed and dressed. Well, the doorbell rang and I ignored it. Walked by the door (only have a tiny window at head level and didn't notice anyone out there) at least 3 times before he knocked on the door. Then I had to go tearing up the stairs and throw some sweats on before answering the door. I know he saw me in my underroos, all because I don't respond to the stupid doorbell anymore.:headache: I still can't look the guy in the face.:sad2:

I believe I was maybe around junior high age. I looked out the front window of my house across the road and saw a little boy and a girl walking along the creek. They were dressed in Little House on the Prarie era from what I remember watching as a kid. Pretty freaky.

I've had some weird experiences, and I've known others that have as well. I hate to commit myself to a belief in anything paranormal, but if I believe in one freaky thing...its ghosts.

Sounds familiar...

I don't know if it sounds familiar, but the year we moved, the radio station did a contest to find the most hounted house in the area and broadcast from there the night of Halloween. Our house won hands down and my Aunt kept us updated all night on all the interviews with the neighbors that had experienced things in our home as well as the new owners that had plenty of experiences as well. We had moved out of state and didn't get that station, but my Aunt was as excited as could be. She had lived with us for a time and she, too, has many of her own stories.

I recently moved back into the house that I grew up in and both my husband and I have had some encounters of the ghostly kind. My DH absolutely refused to believe in anything paranormal, but even he admitted recently that it must be a spirit. The first night we moved in, I heard someone in the field across from us (we live in the country, no neighbors for a mile) yelling my dad's name over and over. Now, my dad lived in the house up until we moved in, and I thought maybe one of his friends was outside. I went out, and there was no one there! I got over it, thinking I was hearing things. Now, every morning like clock work, I hear someone outside yelling my name. The first week, I'd go outside and yell back "what Grandpa?" thinking it was my Grandpa out in his car, not wanting to make the walk up to his house. But, no one was out there. The scariest was when I heard the basement door slam shut. We always keep it closed as I have a two year old and we don't want her to fall down the stairs. My heart sunk as I thought she had managed to open the door, but then I saw her sitting on the couch, watching tv. So I went downstairs and saw that the door to the storage side of the basement was shut and latched. We never shut that door as we are always in and out to get to our deep freezer. I walked in and saw that our storage closed under the stairs door was wide open and the light was on. I had just been down there earlier that morning to get frozen waffles for my oldest dd's breakfast and that door was shut. It freaked me out, called my Grandma and told her if one more thing happend I would be at her door needing a place to stay. Luckily, I've grown accustomed to it, and I've never seen the actual ghost. I always tell my husband it would be a little more comforting if it was a woman's voice, as then I could think it was my mom's. But it is most definitely a guy.

And another not really ghost story but still freaked me out: When my mom was dying, the hospice nurse explained to us that those in the final stage of life might start talking to deceased family members. Sure enough, for three days straight before passing she talked and talked to people who were not in the room. We couldn't understand all of what she was saying as she was in and out of consciousness, but she was definitely conversing with her Grandparents, aunt and uncles who had passed more that to us who were living. It gave me a clear picture that there is life after death.

I saw a ghost at my school once.

Our school has a tale of Jack the janitor, who died tending to the boilers. Well, I was going to the girl's room next to our library. There were double doors that lead to the stairwell right between the two rooms. As I came back from the bathroom to the library, a janitor came out of nowhere and opened the doors to the stairs. When I followed him, no one was there.

Yes, I do and I have had a few experiences. I wrote about it on here around Halloween when someone posted on of their stories.

Gotcha ;)

[EDIT] Picture too offensive for DIS :(
