Ghosts.....this is going to sound nuts but please help!!!

I can tell you a little more. I was mainly interested in knowing if my dad who died of pancreatic cancer in 1996 was at peace. My sister always dreams of him and he talks to her in her dreams. She always tells him how good he looks (he was so thin when he died). And he is always telling her, "I told you I'm not dead." That was that part that worried me. He didn't want to die and I was afraid that maybe he didn't go into the light and wasn't at peace. MaryAnn says as long as you dream of your loved ones they have crossed over. And in fact dreaming about them is their way of communicating with you. I was so glad to hear that my dad was at peace and had accepted his death. It was a great afternoon and put me at peace.

Oh - I'm so glad you are able to have peace now..

And you have no idea what you have just done for me - in terms of my own dad, my late DH, and my younger brother who died suddenly in '06, a year after my DH.. Thank you so very, very much for sharing this personal info..:goodvibes

My adult married DD lost her very best friend in the world - just seven months or so before my DH passed (her friend had just turned 30) - and because she wasn't able to see her before she died, she has really, really struggled with her passing.. But I know for a fact that she has dreamed about her - many, many times (as I have with the loved ones I have lost) - so hopefully reading your experience will bring her the peace of mind she needs..

Again, thank you so very much!

Why, why why do I see these threads at night while I am home by myself, and the wind is making the doors creak???!!!!!!

And when they come in your dreams, they look like you remember them as a child - their prime age - looking magnificent. I woke up crying teas of joy, after my "visit", from my mom. She hasn't been back since, though. Pffft...what-ev's. :snooty: ;)

She had a Christmas Sweater on, though. :confused3 She never wore Christmas sweaters. I guess the clothing choices lack in the afterlife... shame. :3dglasses

I had a dream about my father and he was wearing a tux! The only time he ever wore a tux was at his wedding. I had a dream recently were he told me he was proud of the way i turned out and I woke up crying.

Since some are sharing their ghost stories, I thought I would share mine.

It was a long time ago, back when I was in high school. We had just moved to Jackson, MS and we were going to have a family get together at our old place on the river in Guntersville, Al. So my dad rented cabins for us, and my grandparents. My aunt & uncle were in a different cabin. Well, my boyfriend from Alabama decided to come up for the weekend, and this is where it began.

He had to sleep on the sofa in the open kitchen & den area, and my sister and I slept in a loft area. My parents had a room, and my grandparents had a room. The next morning, we all got up and had breakfast and talked, went out on the boat and all of that. Sometime that afternoon, Tim asked me if I came down in the middle of the night to wash dishes. Of course I didn't, what teenager would? But the look on his face said it all. He looked scared and he was being serious. :rotfl2: He said that a woman was washing dishes in a flowing nightgown. He said she was there for a while. Long story short, he didn't stay another night. :lmao: In fact, that was the last time I ever saw him.:lmao:

So the next day we were all sitting around in the cabin and it suddenly got so cold in there. There was a window unit and it was on, but as soon as someone said that it was cold, it turned off. Normally you had to walk up to it and turn it off. We could not get it to come back on at all. Also, something happened with the ice in the freezer, but I can't remember what it was.

Anyway, on our way home to Jackson, I was in the back seat of the car and I started laughing. My parents asked what I was laughing about and I told them that I was laughing about what Tim had said. About him saying it had to have been a ghost washing dishes. :rotfl2: My parents looked at each other and my mom said, "there was a ghost in that cabin". :scared1:

She said that one night my dad got up to go to the bathroom. While he was in there, he said that someone was knocking on the door. He said "I'll be out in a minute". Again, someone knocked on the door and again he said that he would be out in a minute. When he came out, no one was there. He asked my mom if she came to the bathroom door, and she said no. She could see the bathroom door from her room and no one was there. Then she asked my dad if he had grabbed her foot before he got back into bed and he said no. She swears that someone or something grabbed her foot.

Then she went on to tell me that my grandmother was in the shower and the toilet kept flushing, but no one was in there with her. :rotfl2: It was one weird thing after another, but we didn't put it all together until the car ride home. I wish I could remember them all.

When we got home, my mother called the lady we rented the cabin from, Mrs. Reese. She had been a family friend for years & years. She told my mom that when the cabin was being build, years before, a man fell off of the roof and died. She said that his bride never got over it. She had several families tell her about feeling like there was a ghost in there, but she just blew it off. :rolleyes1 The funny thing is, my sister and I begged my daddy to rent that cabin again to see what else would happen, but we never went back.

Ever since then, I have believed in that sort of thing. That's the only time I have ever know for sure of something like that going on, and it was friendly. I couldn't deal with the other. :scared:

I should get my DD to tell you all about her experience at a friends house. It is freaky!

I'd be very leery anytime you're about to take a commercial break from your life...that's when "something" always happens on the tv ghost hunter shows...

everyone with big eyes...."what the bleep was that"...cut to commercial...

stay away from the commercials!!!

My DH, who makes fun of me because I enjoy watching John Edward (the guy who communicates with dead people, not the disgraced other one), had a very vivid dream about his grandfather last week. He had been very close to his grandpa, who died when DH was about 9. He said they were talking, he was asking grandpa questions, and grandpa said that he had to tell him something important - and then he woke up. He was very upset that he woke up just then. Nothing like that dream has ever happened to him, and he's still thinking about it and wondering what it was that grandpa wanted to tell him. Maybe he won't ridicule me any more! :rotfl:

Personally, I'd find a Shrink...fast.

No such thing as ghosts or spirits. All in your head.

I've been watching Ghost Hunters on Syfi lately. Maybe you should try contacting them.

When DH and DS were in California visiting MIL I was sitting in bed watching TV. DH has an armoir which he never closes the doors on. The right hand door was fully opened. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the door start to move. I watched as it swung closed very slowly. There were no drafts, vibrations or traffic at this time. It has never done it since. We have also had incidents where the light in the dining room which is on a timer didn't come on. When we checked the switch on the lamp had been shut off. None of us did this. We don't have these things happen often but they have occurred.

Then there are a lot of us who need shrinks.

Sorry, I have seen and experienced way too much to think it is all in my head. You might be shocked at what jobs some paranormal researchers have...

The OP is obviously scared and frightened. Even in my post I told her to look into medical possibilities that may explain what is going on. However, if the OP wants additional help, then it is out there.

And just a note... contacting TAPS would most likely be of no use. They don't do many private residences anymore due to issues with safety and security. However, there are many TAPS family members who can be contacted. I offered before to help the OP but have yet to receive a response. If the OP doesn't want to contact me, then they can go to the TAPS website.

One would have to find a shrink who didn't believe in ghosts. Many do.

You're opinion is certainly valid. I have seen too many things firsthand to dismiss the possibility of ghosts as the insane ravings of a lunatic mind (if I may borrow from Young Frankenstien hehehe!) and while I am fairly certain I'm not suffering from any particular mental breakdown or psychotic episode, you never know!

Agreed. People want to believe some random noise, reflection etc is supernatural so they will do anything.

There is nothing out there folks. No ghosts, no goblins and nothing that goes bump in the night..

I am sure people will come up with all the "facts" yet there are no facts. Not one thing proven and tons that are shown as fake, false or wrong.

:rolleyes1
This is all very interesting. I really don't know much about paranormal stuff, but I just wanted to add that if these episodes happen while you are half-asleep, they may be hypnagogic hallucinations. They aren't due to mental illnes, it's just that sometimes during the threshold between wakefulness and sleep you can hear/see stuff. Sometime it goes as far as ending up with sleep paralysis. Many ghost stories and alien abduction stories are due to this phenomenom.

This is the first time I have ever heard this term, but I think this is what happened to me when I was 6 years old! I know you will all think I am crazy, but I remember this incident VERY CLEARLY and it was over 30 years ago. I was waking up in my room one morning and I could actually hear the flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz scratching on my walls and banging to get in. (Those things terrified the bejeezus out of me as a kid). I KNOW I heard them! I ran screaming down the hall to the other end of the house and my mom just laughed at me and told my I was dreaming. I knew I wasn't dreaming because I knew I was awake...I was SO mad that she didn't believe me! I even made her go look outside the house where my room was to check.

After reading this, I bet I had one of these hallucinations. It was so incredibly real, but it was in that time between sleep/wake and of course as an adult, I know the monkeys weren't really beating down the walls of my house! :rotfl:

I guess I need a shrink too another beleiver here. Before I joined the air force I lived in an house that there was something there for sure. I had a friend who lived there a few years after me only I wa sin the air force at the time and didn't know it. We recetnly found out on facebook that we lived in the same house and she also thought the same thing about an old man ghost there.
I vote to do a smudging.

I never had an opinion one way or the other about ghosts until years ago when DH and I bought our first home. It was an older home and we loved it. Things gradually starting happening. First it was objects disappearing then showing up months later in odd places, lights turning on and off by themselves, knocks on the door when no one there, sounds of someone walking on the hardwood floors, etc. One night I went to bed before my husband. I had just laid down and closed my eyes when I opened my eyes and saw this black figure standing beside the bed leaning over me. I looked up and asked if it was my husband. I asked it twice. It them stood up straight and backed up into the closet and disappeared. Another time I was in the one car garage changing the headlight on my little pickup while DH was at work. It was a cold rainy yucky day so no one was out. I had to get the grill off to get access to the light and could not get the grill off. It was held on by plastic screws that would tear when I tried to remove them. I finally got frustrated and went inside to warm up. I came out about 20 minutes later and the grill had been removed from the frame and was just sitting in place so that I could get to the headlight. Now you can explain away just about everything else but this was physical evidence.

Great story!

I wouldn't. It could make things worse if it's not done correctly.
