Since some are sharing their ghost stories, I thought I would share mine.
It was a long time ago, back when I was in high school. We had just moved to Jackson, MS and we were going to have a family get together at our old place on the river in Guntersville, Al. So my dad rented cabins for us, and my grandparents. My aunt & uncle were in a different cabin. Well, my boyfriend from Alabama decided to come up for the weekend, and this is where it began.
He had to sleep on the sofa in the open kitchen & den area, and my sister and I slept in a loft area. My parents had a room, and my grandparents had a room. The next morning, we all got up and had breakfast and talked, went out on the boat and all of that. Sometime that afternoon, Tim asked me if I came down in the middle of the night to wash dishes. Of course I didn't, what teenager would?

But the look on his face said it all. He looked scared and he was being serious.

He said that a woman was washing dishes in a flowing nightgown. He said she was there for a while. Long story short, he didn't stay another night.

In fact, that was the last time I ever saw him.
So the next day we were all sitting around in the cabin and it suddenly got so cold in there. There was a window unit and it was on, but as soon as someone said that it was cold, it turned off. Normally you had to walk up to it and turn it off.

We could not get it to come back on at all. Also, something happened with the ice in the freezer, but I can't remember what it was.
Anyway, on our way home to Jackson, I was in the back seat of the car and I started laughing. My parents asked what I was laughing about and I told them that I was laughing about what Tim had said. About him saying it had to have been a ghost washing dishes.

My parents looked at each other and my mom said, "there was a ghost in that cabin".
She said that one night my dad got up to go to the bathroom. While he was in there, he said that someone was knocking on the door. He said "I'll be out in a minute". Again, someone knocked on the door and again he said that he would be out in a minute. When he came out, no one was there. He asked my mom if she came to the bathroom door, and she said no. She could see the bathroom door from her room and no one was there.

Then she asked my dad if he had grabbed her foot before he got back into bed and he said no.

She swears that someone or something grabbed her foot.
Then she went on to tell me that my grandmother was in the shower and the toilet kept flushing, but no one was in there with her.

It was one weird thing after another, but we didn't put it all together until the car ride home.

I wish I could remember them all.
When we got home, my mother called the lady we rented the cabin from, Mrs. Reese. She had been a family friend for years & years. She told my mom that when the cabin was being build, years before, a man fell off of the roof and died. She said that his bride never got over it. She had several families tell her about feeling like there was a ghost in there, but she just blew it off.

The funny thing is, my sister and I begged my daddy to rent that cabin again to see what else would happen, but we never went back.
Ever since then, I have believed in that sort of thing. That's the only time I have ever know for sure of something like that going on, and it was friendly. I couldn't deal with the other.
I should get my DD to tell you all about her experience at a friends house. It is freaky!
