Ghosts.....this is going to sound nuts but please help!!!

How come you never hear about caveman ghosts or roaming dinosaur ghosts or ghosts from biblical times? Because they aren't real.

They're always from about the 1600's to modern day times. It is very easy for our imaginations to play tricks on us.

Not that I'm advocating the existence of caveman or biblical age ghosts, but if they were wandering around, they would be ghosting around beneath the current surface of the earth, so it's unlikely we'd see them (assuming, of course, that they kept to the actual land levels of their times).

Notably, people in biblical times believed in ghosts and they are mentioned in the bible. Clearly, biblical people thought there were biblical ghosts.

Yes - I believe in ghosts - have had many encounters.. But the main experience - that lasted for years and years - was living with my grandmother's ghost in my former home.. It's a long story (she died on my living room couch - although she lived next-door), but she had unfinished business here on earth - looking for my youngest brother (who was adopted by my parents the same year I married for the 1st time and was the great grandson of my grandma.. He is no longer with us now - died in an accident on his way to work in 2006.. )..

Anyhow - living with a ghost wasn't a problem for us because we knew who it was - and what the purpose was.. She would often do things to let us know she was still there and while it didn't bother us, we did have one adult friend and one adult couple (relatives of my late DH) that refused to step foot in the house ever again after witnessing "Grandma's" antics.. LOL..

I don't have any problems with ghosts I can identify - or "friendly" ghosts - but I think I might have issues with one that I felt threatened by..

I don't know what the protocol is for dealing with ghosts of unknown origin, but if it's really frightening you, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to follow some of the suggestions here..

Now, if this is paranormal, do NOT do a house blessing on your own or allow anyone else to do it unless they know what they are doing. If a blessing is done incorrectly it could actually increase the activity especially if it is an intelligent haunting.

This is not saying that this is an actual haunting. If you wish to, keep a camera with you in order to try and "catch" what you are experiencing. If you are going to do this, make sure it is a decent camera, not something like a cell phone camera. I also suggest, like PPs, that you look into possible other reasons for these happenings including on a personal level.

Ok, my family lives with my MIL in a house that she and her ex built maybe 50 yrs ago. I have Dh and 3 DD's (7, 5 and 15 weeks old) that live with us.


Just a tip.....if you wanted an alias, giving out all your personal info probably isn't the best route to go.
Sorry you are having ghostly problems. Sounds like it might be because of your 15 week old. I'd call your priest and have your child baptized.

but I have come to believe that people put an impression of sorts on a place. So, I guess if a bad person lived somewhere then bad things may happen or a bad "impression" may have been left.

I also agree with this - but I think I also believe in intelligent spirits, as well. The ones who "won't go into the light". I mean, I don't know - it could be a wild imagination, too.

Or what about visits people report on, that they *know*, and they can feel their loved ones? And it's not daily, but just a fleeting moment of knowing your Mom, Dad, Brother, Grandma, etc etc - was there? For me, it's a fascinating subject.

This is actually one of the things I'm looking forward to, after I die. I believe we get all the answers to all the questions, and this is one of them. I believe I'm already signed up for the "Afterlife Class on Ghosts 101". I'll attend it, once I get there.

I agree with the underlined. I said the same thing about the Smudging many people do. Inexperienced, and alone - it's not something I would be willing to approach, myself.

I don't think (who knows, though...) I don't THINK paranormal groups expect payment. They're not The Ghostbusters. I'd call, and see what they tell you.

Keep us updated. Like I said - I'm fascinated by this stuff.

Wow, a few of you have decided that the OP needs psychological help? That's a bit much IMO.

OP, it doesn't hurt to consider that you might be hearing things of course but that's up to you to determine. Does anyone else hear these things? You will have people that will scoff at you whatever the cause of this so make sure that you don't let them influence you. None of us have a clue as to what's actually going on there.

If you need a paranormal group, there are good ones out there but be careful. Like anything else, there are charlatans. Make sure that you never pay for help of this type.

Find a priest or minister who has experience in performing exorcisms to cast these spirits out. If you are truly having these experiences (and I do not doubt that you are), there is a demonic presence in the house and it needs to know that it is not welcome. And do not waste time in getting these creeps out!

When I was younger I used to talk to a ghost at my great grandmas house. I dont remember it now but grandma sure did. The house was over 100 years old and we saw lots of stange things. I was never afraid of the ghosts.

This is all very interesting. I really don't know much about paranormal stuff, but I just wanted to add that if these episodes happen while you are half-asleep, they may be hypnagogic hallucinations. They aren't due to mental illnes, it's just that sometimes during the threshold between wakefulness and sleep you can hear/see stuff. Sometime it goes as far as ending up with sleep paralysis. Many ghost stories and alien abduction stories are due to this phenomenom.

It happens sometime when you are living trhough a particularly stressful period, or suffern from insomnia.

Of course this only applies if the episodes happen when you are half-sleep. If you are fully awake that's another matter.

I would get a priest but that is b/c I am Catholic. I would not do smudging if you were not native. My DH is and he does this is our home, to help clear up any negative energies that may come in. Good luck.

These experiences may not be a demonic haunting. It could simply be a peeved off intelligent haunting. They don't realize sometimes that they are dead or that this is no longer their home. They don't understand why YOU are now living there. Picture one day suddenly finding out that there are strangers acting like they own your home, but you never gave it to them. You'd be pretty upset as well and do what you can to drive them out.

As for the blessing of the house... it's the same thing. You're telling the spirit to leave their home and they may not understand why. Thus, if you don't do it correctly, they just get madder and do more to drive you out.

If you REALLY believe you are having paranormal experiences, then you need to find a group to help you. Many will not change you. For example, to be considered a TAPS family member, you can not charge. It's a part of being a part of the larger TAPS family group.

This has been a very interesting thread.. I didn't know that people who go into peoples homes and check for ghosts or paranormal experiences didn't charge you.. To me that says a lot - not just someone trying to grab the money and run..

You might give The Atlantic Paranormal Society (T.A.P.S.) based in Warwick, Rhode Island a call. They go all over the country and don't charge a dime. I watch a lot of ghost/paranormal programs and they seem to be the most credible and objective by far.

Unless you're really inclined to do so, running out to buy a bible and cross probably isn't going to help much. There are a lot of paranormal investigators who play religion into their investigations and it doesn't seem to help much and in some cases just annoys the spirit(s) involved. A good investigation is usually secular and therefore more objective. Once you identify exactly what you have you can better choose how to deal with it.

She see's and talks to earth bound spirts and is the person whom the show Ghost Whisperer was created after. She was a consultant on the show. She has a web site, google it, and you can contact her. She will call you back, but this is her busy time she said it will take till after the holidays to get back to you. She lives in NE OH as I do and I've heard her on radio shows. Plus an acquaintance is a family friend of her's and knew her before she became popular because of the show. I just got done reading her book When Ghosts Speak. Check it out of the library it's an easy read.

Anywho back to the phone call. When she calls you back on your home phone she is able to see any spirits that are in your home. I find all this very fascinating and definitley believe there are spirts who don't go into the light. Sometimes I feel a breeze over my face as I lay in bed at night. My DH says is the furnance kicking on..I've also been awakened by someone calling my name. But other than that if I do have a ghost I don't notice any negatives from it.

She does say that spirits of your relatives who have crossed over come back and visit you often but they don't create any havoc in your life. She cannot see or talk to these spirits but says they are good. Anyway you can call her whereever you are, not sure if she would come to you, but maybe she knows someone in your area who can help. I belong to a paranormal investigation group. They do not charge to come in to do investigations. So if you are in the WI area let me know. Our group is scientific based, there is a lengthy questionaire to fill out before a pre investigation visit. I have been doing investigations at a haunted home in Janesville WI almost every weekend, got alot of great things, pics, evps, etc.

I can tell you a little more. I was mainly interested in knowing if my dad who died of pancreatic cancer in 1996 was at peace. My sister always dreams of him and he talks to her in her dreams. She always tells him how good he looks (he was so thin when he died). And he is always telling her, "I told you I'm not dead." That was that part that worried me. He didn't want to die and I was afraid that maybe he didn't go into the light and wasn't at peace. MaryAnn says as long as you dream of your loved ones they have crossed over. And in fact dreaming about them is their way of communicating with you. I was so glad to hear that my dad was at peace and had accepted his death. It was a great afternoon and put me at peace.
