Ghost Adventures

Ghost Adventures isn't well... respected in the paranormal research community. They don't seem to work too hard at debunking and they don't seem to act very professional when on site. This is not just based on the TV show, but also based on interactions with other teams.

It's a fun show, but I wouldn't take much of their evidence too seriously.

I tend to agree that it's best not to take them too seriously. I think that they do run into weird activity but that is in spite of their methods, not because of them. I suspect that they really believe what they are doing though and their show is definitely the most fun paranormal show IMO.

By the way, it's odd which show seems to be the scariest or is to me at least. I have found a few of the episodes of The Haunted very spooky. Who would have thought that Animal Planet would come up with such a show!

I love this show! We watch this and Paranormal State. My DD12 says she likes Zach better than Ryan because he's hotter, lol. They and the shows are like comparing apples to oranges though. I love Aaron - his reactions are hilarious... DUDE, did you hear that?! I don't know about how real the stuff is, but they are fun to watch. I think in general it's not too smart to provoke these things, but they seem to be young and strong and aware of the risks. Yeah, Zach's hair has recently gotten much crazier. :rotfl:

I stopped ever watching Ghost Hunters because I never saw a show where anything actually happened, so I guess this is why this one caught my attention, but is also why I questioned them. Maybe I just didn't watch Ghost Hunters enough.

Are they not respected in the Paranormal research community because of their "unprofessional" way of acting? Or because what they do may not be for real?

Early on Ghost Hunters often didn't find anything because they were investigating smaller areas and personal homes. These days they find more, but they are also investigation well known "haunted" buildings and have more to choose from to actually show on TV. They still debunk what they can.

The way Ghost Adventures acts is considered unprofessional (and there has been questions about their evidence as well). It is hard enough to be taken seriously in the field of paranormal research... it makes it harder when you have people acting like they do.

Sounds like I should try watching Ghost Hunters again.

I may not believe all of 100% but I still want to SEE something happen, kwim?

I do find it intersting that most of the places these shows go to seem to be places where something evil took place. Maybe that is the reason for the "unrested" spirits?

I must say that although watching them is funny, the Ghost Adventure guys act about like I would in the same circumstance. I mean, if I was in a haunted building and something touched my pocket, I would probably fall out right there. :scared1: The whole show would be trying to revive me from a faint!!! :rotfl:

Yea, but if you KNOW you will react that way then paranormal research and ghost hunting may not be the best hobby for you. :goodvibes

And I also don't like the groups that always find something "evil". Half the time I am sitting there and going "where did you get the evil part from?". Have I seen instances that scare the heck out of me and that are dangerous? Heck yes, but they are a LARGE minority of cases.

If I were you, I would watch the GH Live episode on Halloween. It can be slow as you are literally following them as they do the investigation, but sometimes it can be amazing.

My mom and sister love this show, but I can't get into it. I'll watch Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International (which I actually prefer) and sometimes Paranormal state and Destination Truth (which does some ghost hunting sometimes). I've tried to watch this one several times and find it so ridiculous that I don't last more than 5 minutes. The lead guy annoys me to no end. He's obnoxious. Maybe if he left, I'd watch it more.

I love all thses shows too. My son and I watched the GA marathon yesterday. There is no way in the world I would ever step one foot in Bobby Mackey's. EVER! That is the only episode of this show that truly gave me the creeps.
It's a fun show if you don't take it to seriously.

it's ENTERTAINMENT. honestly, i don't take much of anything on TV very seriously. :) i just think they are fun because they are so crazy. it definitely makes for more interesting viewing.

the whole premise of the show (to me, at least) is that they are two guys who like to hunt for ghosts, along with their tech guy, who doesn't really like to hunt ghosts. i never took them for an organization, like some of the other paranormal investigating groups. they're more "just three guys" to me.

but like i said, i don't take any of the television ghost hunters very seriously. jason and grant jumped the shark LONG ago. i couldn't really get into Paranormal State. maybe i should give it another shot.

As for unprofessional, there are rumors that TAPS has faked activity. If they have I can see why. Supposedly, it's very hard to actually catch anything in a few hours at even the most haunted places. I can imagine that endless weeks of nothing happening could turn people off and ruin their ratings. I do believe that TAPS is for real though whatever extra they might or might not have added. If that makes sense. ;)

.

There are people in the field who don't do it for entertainment. There are actually groups out there who spend their own money and time to help people out. The problem is when you have groups on TV that act unprofessionally and people think that is what the field is all about. By acting like that, they are giving other groups bad names and making it hard to be taken seriously.

People asked about them. I answered with my thoughts and what I had heard from other paranormal groups.

There are questions about some pieces of evidence, I will give you that. I personally don't find myself watching their shows as much because it has become more about the entertainment then about helping people. I also find the production of the show very annoying now. I just wish they would get back to their roots.

HOWEVER, that being said, I think TAPS has a better reputation then MANY groups out there on TV. They do still try to debunk (when in doubt, throw it out!) and they get more realistic events happening. Ask any team how many times things actually happen and they will tell you it is really rare. Usually evidence isn't even noticed until after the actual hunt when you finally hear the EVPs and have time to review the tapes.

I also like the fact that they let you hear or see what they have captured on their equipment throughout the show instead of just seeing it at the end.

I too watch many of the what I call Ghostie Shows. Paranormal State, Physic Kids, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, A Haunting, The Haunted, you get the idea.

And this is why I love the month of October! Once October's over though, it gets harder and harder to find some of these shows and I've seen them all. I've seen some of the repeats multiple times too.

for me, i don't judge those of you who do it for real by those i see on television. :)

as for TAPS, i think they started out sincere and honest. i don't know that i think they are as honest anymore. they've got to keep people interested, i guess. and, they have more competition from other shows.

as for GA, they sure are getting a LOT more EVPs this season versus past seasons. makes ya wonder. ;) i'll still watch though. like i said, they're entertaining. and aaron makes me laugh.

Thank you... I appreciate that!

Sadly, many people do. They think we can come in, set up, and be done within a couple hours. We had one team that was hired to investigate somewhere and it ended up that they were expected to perform for a party. It is ridicules.

I was wondering yesterday if their disclaimer "enhanced audio" allows them to fib a little 'cause I gotta tell you, 99% of the time, I don't hear anything! ;)

something to think about here..

The Ghost Hunters carry their own personal recording devices (both audio and video) which are common off the shelf devices. These devices routinely pick up "activity". The high end, ultra sensitive gear the camera and sound crew who follow and film them, never pick up these occurrences.

Big GA fan here:banana:I have been watching them for years and throughly enjoy them. For those of you who like Aaron you need to check out the show called the riddle house where they stick him in the attic, lots of activity on that one. I also liked the one where they put Nick in the morgue and he was locked in. I have tried to watch other paranormal shows and they can't come close to GA for their entertainment value. Mary

I love GA, I remember when they did there live show lost year. There was some sort of big deal about how one of the guest they had on was faking some things, They came on the air during a re-broadcast and said they they believed the guy had fibbed about some things and created a hoax, they wanted to come clean and make sure they don't want anything to do with that sort of thing. What they see and hear is true. Call me crazy but I believe they are on the up and up
