Need some guidance.....

We've been trying to get ice cream here on our last 4 trips. Seems like we always go at the worse time...super crowded and too difficult to wait with 3 children in tow.

Anyone been there when it wasn't too crowded? This coming trip we are staying at Saratoga Springs and can get there anytime during the day.....no parks for us this trip.

Thanks for the guidance.

Missy

We were in WDW in June and did DD during the day. We did ice cream, after an early lunch, about 1:30, and it was great. We got a seat inside and loved it bc the ice cream didn't melt! Have fun...if you like butterscotch..the butterscotch sundae there was heavenly!!

I will definitely try and it hit between lunch and dinner. Maybe this can take place of lunch one a day when we are having a buffet breakfast.

Definitely go for an afternoon pick me up when your dinner is not going to be too early. The Gold Rush Sundae is my favorite, and just the heavenly aroma of the hot fudge makes me swoon! They also make an outstanding Cafe Mocha with shaved chocolate on top.

Hey there! Just thought I'd chime in on this one...my family is addicted to Ghirardelli so we're there quite a bit on our trips. I hope the transportation is better by the time you arrive at SSR, it was not very good while we were there. The walking paths weren't completed either, and the one that goes down to the West End is a VERY long walk. As for when to hit DTD for ice cream, we've found it's nice to go as soon as DTD opens. We head over for ice cream and then hit a park from there. Otherwise, the afternoon ideas are good as well. Have fun!:mickeybar

I amd glad to hear all this info about the good time to go. My DW has been on a low-non fat diet to reduce cholesterol and has not had any Ice Cream in months! She cant wait to go to WDW in slurge a little and this was one of her plans since we are staying at SSR. We will go to DD in the first day for lunch and then ice cream!!!!

Ghirardelli ice cream is the next best thing to...heaven. ;) We ate there on a Saturday afternoon in June and while it was crowded we still managed to find a seat outside. I have to say that it was the best ice cream I've ever eaten. Smooth, creamy, not at all icy or hard...divine! Makes me all drooly just thinking about it.

Skip lunch, just do ice cream. The Cable Car sundae is a chocolate lovers' heaven.::yes::

High quality treats:teeth: Try to work it in. It's really good(this from someone who is NOT a died in the wool ice cream lover).:earsboy:

There is always a long line - but its worth the wait. Just get on the line. The longer the line the better it tastes when you finally eat it!

We have always gone around 11AM and never have much of a wait, if any. We always have an early breakfast and then head to DD for shopping and ice cream.

Just get there no matter what you have to do. I'm already dreaming about that ice cream and my trip's not until Feb. As soon as my plane lands and we get checked in, I am headed for DTD no matter what. :sunny:
It's simply amazing!!

Not sure about good times to go, but we waited in line for the first time on a Saturday night Memorial Day weekend - I thought it would take a long time from the looks of the line so I sent my DH to Pin Traders while I waited, hoping to kill 2 birds at the same time. He was only gone about 10 minutes and I had already ordered when he returned. Maybe they had extra help behind the counter or something, but the line moved fast. I don't know if they always do this, but I ordered at the counter and they gave me a number to put on our table. When the ice cream was ready, they found the table with that number and brought it us. So don't be too quick to decide the line is too long.

we've been wanting to go here for years and never seem to make it. :sad2: This year I'm going to make it for sure. ::yes::

we went there monday around 1:00 pm. had no problem getting in . there weren't any seats available inside so we got the sundaes to go and ate them in an outside eating area across from ghiradelli's.they were yummy. if you are a member of entertainment.com you can print out a buy one get one free coupon.can't beat getting a 6.50 sundae for free.

We have an entertainment book and I will definitely log on to the site and get the coupon. Need to save where you can when doing Disney w/ three kids, plus a nephew.

Thanks,
Missy

you are both very welcome. i so agree that every penny counts when going to disney.i purchased the 2004 entertainment book online then it tells you to register the book then you can access the coupons. If i remember correctly the zip code you put in is 32830(double check the zip on the mousesavers site) then the coupon will be there for you to print.you might be able to access the coupons without purchasing the book but i'm not sure about that.Enjoy!
