ghd flat irons

Does anyone have one and if so, do you think they are worth the money? TIA.

My DD13 and I have shared one for about a year now. My hairstylist always used the ghd on my hair. It's used 1-2 times a week. I really don't believe a cheaper model would have worked as well on our thick hair.

I like the floating panels that allow you to curl the hair on the ends. My DD's hair is thick and it just looks beautiful when she straightens it. It looks professionally done.

I have a CHI & and a ghd. They work(ed) about the same on my frizzy, curly hair. I bought the ghd so that I could use it overseas (dual voltage) and for my travel within the states. However, after about a couple of years and two trips to Europe, it stopped working. I haven't had it fixed yet. I've had my CHI for about five years. It still works great!

Is it worth the price? If traveling abroad wasn't an issue then the answer would be "no" ... at least for me. The CHI works just as well on my hair.

I have a 1" GHD and I love it! I have very thick, frizzy, kinky hair, and it works great on it - better than my comparative Paul Mitchell Smoothing Iron. It was a close contest, but the GHD didn't pull and break my hair nearly as much as the Paul Mitchell Smoothing Iron. I've compared the two even recently, to be sure I was remembering it right, and the results are still the same - GHD wins, hands down!

Even though I have a lot of thick hair, I still prefer the 1", because I can get closer to my scalp in the front. It can handle a surprising amount of hair for a 1" iron!

PS - I got mine for under $100 on Ebay, if you're willing to take the risk.

I have had my GHDs for about 6 years and I love them! I got mine in England when I was 18; I still have the same pair, and even with the lower voltage over here they work great! They've lasted really well.
