Our recent trip to the Grand Floridian was made so much nicer by all of your help, :goodvibes so I'm hoping I can get some help with an upcoming trip.

We are going for a 25th wedding anniversary with vow renewals and a small party, both at the Grand Floridian, for my Aunt and Uncle. They are staying at the Grand for the week, in the main building. We are torn on where to stay. We love it over in the Epcot area, and most of the relatives are at the Beach Club (we like the Yacht Club - seems quieter) and we are hoping to do an Illuminations cruise that week, so it would be nice to come home to something close after that as well.

There are four of us (two adults, 2 children, won't sleep together) and we would like to have some kind of suite (wanna do a cocktail party for them) but I don't know what to book. We aren't going until next June, so I think I have some time, but after reading how some of these suites book years in advance, it's making me nervous. My problem is that I want a view of the castle if we are at the grand floridian and a view of the lake if we are at epcot. After calling Disney, they couldn't tell me with any assuredness what room to request to compare, and we are hoping you can help. Please?? :flower:

There are a lot of options for you.

One thing you might think about is a 2BR Villa at the BW or BC. Make sure you pay for a preferred view to get a waterview.

If you want to spend oodles of money, the Admiral's suite at the YC has a lake view, also the "presidential" at the BWI has a lake view.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite at the BC about 2 years ago. It was wonderful ! One window had a view of the water and Boardwalk and the other had a great view of the Illuminations fireworks (just the fireworks, not the lasers, etc.) I have no idea what room it was unfortunately. It was a corner room. I don't know if it is big enough for a cocktail party - might need a 2 bedroom. The living area in the 1 bedroom was not very big for more than 4 people!
Have a great trip!

Edited to add : I forgot to say where we stayed! The BC! Sorry!

Oops, that didn't work - I'll PM you.

Also, you might want to consider renting DVC points. Some of the villas for DVC are beautiful (well, actually they are all beautiful lol!) and it might be more affordable to do it that way rather than a suite at the resort (they are quite pricy).

an excellent suite for a cocktail party is the hospitality suite at the GF. It is waterfront, has castle view, a large patio and a large living room for your party, including a "bar" inside.

There are only two of them at the GF.

It has a master bedroom, a pull out couch in the living room, and an optional second bedroom you can book that adjoins.

Feel free to PM with any questions and good luck!

fyi, in what seems like a design flaw, neither the Pres nor the VP suite at GF have a castle view from the room, you can only see the castle if you go out on the balcony

I kind of want the concierge's help with all this stuff, which is why I didn't go the DVC route. We are trying to also book fireworks excursions and some concierge-only options.

Thank you so much Bridegirl - you don't happen to have pictures of those, do you? The Hospitality suite sounds very much like something we would want.

I wanted to get the walt disney suite, but heard it doesn't overlook the Castle. How could it not??

My favorite suites at the Grand Floridian are located in Sago Cay and Conch Key. They are on the first floor, have this very large patio area and are right on the lagoon with a fabulous view of the Castle. While they are not located in a concierge building you have concierge access right next door at Sugar Loaf or in the main building.

At the Yacht Club I think most all their suites have water views.

Do you need a one bedroom or 2 bedroom suite?

We had a 2 bdrm suite at the GF in the Sugar Loaf building, it overlooked the marina and had a view of the castle from the balcony.

It had a master bdrm with king bed and bath, a regular bedroom with two doubles and bath, these rooms were connected by a sitting room with a pull out sofa bed.

It was really nice, concierge building--but be prepared to pay for it, big time!!!

Yes, the 2 suites I'm talking about are the same ones that Sammie is talking about. We like the conch key one better, I dont have any online pics - I could probably find some in our trip pics - we have stayed in that room quite a few times.

The Walt suite does have a castle view, but not from sitting on the couch or just being in the room, you have to go to the balcony, which is a small small not even real sized balcony.

The Pres suite at the BW has a GIANT balcony and great living room for a party, but obviously no castle view.

The suite with the biggest "party space" at YC has NO VIEW at all, the next level down at YC both have regular sized balconies.

The AKL Pres suite is on of the very best rooms on property, but just a savannah view, no water or castle.

Good luck!
