I know they are worlds apart but my question is, is it worth it to spend $1000 more for a garden view room at GF. Or should we save the money and keep the ressie for POR and hope for a courtyard view at WL (they are all taken right now  )

Thanks. A little info we are taking a 4 day trip for our 5th aniversary during free dining.

With 2 little ones, I would think it would be easier to be on the monorail. You can wheel the strollers right onto the monorail without waking up sleeping children... to us that was priceless!

If you think you can afford the extra cost per night I say go with the Grand Floridian, because staying on the Resort Monorail makes things so much easier.

Mostly just the $1000. I am trying to figure if GF is really $1000 more romantic. It is only $800 more for the BC?

I am really confused right now!

Where are you staying when you go back in eight months?? (I see the timeline on your signature)

We spent our 10 year anniversary at POR and really loved it. We've stayed there two times since then as well. I wouldn't think GF is $1,000 more romantic than POR as far as the grounds, etc. But, do you guys like to order room service? Sit out on your balcony? Relax while wearing robes? (I'm assuming they provide robes, maybe not, though). If you say yes to all of those things, then maybe GF is where you should be. Another consideration is being able to land a confirmed reservation for a King room at POR, many of their rooms are double/double. How do you feel about possibly being in a double room vs. a king?

Finally, the weather is going to be hot during your trip. How do you feel about waiting for the buses? You're only there for four days so maybe you want to speed things along by being on the monorail.

Like I said, we love POR and find it to be very romantic but if you want some key items for this special trip, then I'm thinking the GF is where you need to be!!

I had this issue for our Christmas trip but decided I wanted to spend my 10 year wedding Anniversary at the GF.

I think the above poster is correct. If you love the spa, balcony, nice restaurants etc...I would stay at the GF!

If luxury does not matter and you are going to spend sun up from sun down in the parks then you may want to save your $1000. I think it is all up to what type of vacation and environment you want to spend your special time together.

I hope whatever you choose...you have a wonderful time. No matter what-I would love to go without our kids one day. Have a great vacation:)

We are DVC mambers so we are staying at SSR or BC in January. We have staye at AKL 3 times and Contemporary once. I think what I have decided it to keep trying for a room at WL. It is the only place we have NEVER seen! And if we can get a Courtyard or Woods view it is a lot cheaper. We do love the spa, but due to the DVC discount we are going to the spa at SSR when we go.
I am thinking in that case POR is closer. Thanks for all your answeres. It made me think about a few things.

We stayed at POR this past January and loved it. We stayed at GF about 5-6 years ago. The grounds of POR are beautiful, but it is very large, and we did a lot of walking, which was fine with us. I think GF is not so spread out and doesn't seem as large (at least as far as walking is concerned). Also, if you enjoy the spa and very nice restaurants, then GF is great. We actually prefer the food-court type atmosphere at POR. Also, as someone else mentioned, staying at a monorail resort is convenient. We can't justify spending $1000 more to stay at GF, but I think it all depends on what you are looking for. An anniversary stay is special...and I do think GF has a very romantic feel to it.

POR while the GF is great I agree and don't think its worth the money....POR is a huge garden for less, I am going there for my honeymoon and can't wait it is so romantic and relaxing.:lovestruc

It kind of sounds to me that you don't really want to stay at GF, but are picking this as an alternative because you can't get WL.:scratchin Don't spend the extra $1000 if that's not really what you had your heart set on.:lovestruc If you really want WL and can't get it then stay at POR. Personally, I would love to splurge and stay at GF for the monorail and other extras it offers, like spa and restaurants.:cloud9: Good luck and remember, you can't really go wrong with any of these resorts:thumbsup2 ; they all have disney magic.pixiedust:

This really comes down to personal preference. I've never stayed at the GF but have eaten and visited there a few times in the last 2 years. I don't like the uppity atmosphere of it at all. As you can see, my favorite resort is the WL. I've chosen POR this year to try during free dining to save a little $$. I've always thought it would be my second choice anyway. I guess time will tell. I would also like to give the deluxe Epcot resorts a try too. That said, it may be worth it to stay at the GF just for the convenience of it....if that's important to you.

We don't like the GF at all--just not us. I would stick with POR and hope for WL if your heart isn't into the GF and spending the extra cash.

Have you considered the Club level? That would be a great way to celebrate your anniversary. Check and see if the WL has a Club Level room available. Ask for a MK view (North Wing).

Personally, POR is my least favorite mod. I also think GF is outrageously expensive, so it's a toss up. It sort of depends on you finances though.

I'd probably keep POR, and I'd pick WL too, of the three.

Still, it's hard to put a price on a view of the castle! For four days, if you can swing it, you'll never forget it.

Then again, if you love it too much, it may cost you more than $1000 extra. Next trip it will be harder to stay at a mod after GF castle view!

GF if nothing else for the monorail because to get back to your hotel from MK or EPCOT you dont have to fold your stroller it makes a world of a difference

We have never stayed at POR, but have stayed at GF 4 times! I would pick GF without a doubt!:cheer2: Very romantic for an anniversary!princess:
