Hi all we are headed to Disney and will be staying at The Grand for the first time (yes we finally made a decision) We are now a family of 6, but our "6" will be only 6 months old for his first meeting with Mickey; so we can stay in one room (for now!) Anyway here are my questions:
1. How is the Kids Club at The Grand? Will they watch a 6 month old?
2. What is the best building to request to be nearest the "caferteria type place" in the main building? Maybe even the pools?
3. Is it true that the parking lot is far so if we choose to rent a car it is a hassle?
4. Has anyone done the tea? I thought it would be fun for me and my girls (9 & 11)
5. Has anyone done the princess makeover thing? Is this at GF or somewhere else?

OK I think that is it for now. I would really appreciate any info you can share! I love this place!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi. You are going to love the Grand! Be sure to check out the GF FAQ page :surfweb:

1. How is the Kids Club at The Grand? Will they watch a 6 month old?

The Kids Club is perfectly fine but SMALL and potentially "boring" (in the opinion of my DD11 and DNiece9). Unfortunately, they only take children ages 4-12. For an infant you could use Kids Nite Out which is a third party service whose employees do go thru a Disney training of some sort. They are very professional and reliable in my experience.

2. What is the best building to request to be nearest the "caferteria type place" in the main building? Maybe even the pools?

The entire resort is pretty convenient to everything else, but I would maybe request Conch Key...its front door puts you very close to the boat dock and the quiet pool and its back door puts you a short stroll from Gasparilla's. Or Big Pine Key b/c it's super close to BOTH pools. Gasparilla Grill is the quick food spot and it would be closest to Sago for standard rooms I guess...

3. Is it true that the parking lot is far so if we choose to rent a car it is a hassle?

Self parking is a hike but you could valet for $10 per day... If you're not going to use your car very much I would not worry about the self-parking...it's certainly doable.

4. Has anyone done the tea? I thought it would be fun for me and my girls (9 & 11)
Tea is wonderful, relaxing, delicious :cloud9: Your girls are a great age for that :wizard: I definitely recommend getting an ADR for that!

5. Has anyone done the princess makeover thing? Is this at GF or somewhere else?
This I do not know about but I know someone else will :thumbsup2

Good Luck!

Thank you so much.....You have been very helpful....Do you know if Sago just has dormer rooms because I here they are smaller, and with our family we will definetly need the largest "garden view" they will give us!

Most rooms in Sago are not dormer.

Sago is closest to the buses too if you go the route toward the convention center. However, it is the farthest from the pools.

I'm partial to Conch Key, too.

I think you mean Bibbidi Boppidy (sp?) Boutiques for the princess makeovers. There is one at the MK in the castle and one at DTD. The GF does have a hair salon and the gals in there are great but it's not a princess thing.

Happy planning!

Thank you - Do you know if GF has a playground? My 9 year old is inquiring! Hee hee
