GF Package - Can I make this change?

I currently have a room + tickets package at the GF for October. We recently decided to add a night at POR (room-only) to the beginning of the stay. My problem is that my FP window is coming up soon, and it looks like I won't be able to book until 60 days before my GF stay, since my tickets are linked to that. Since I'm spending the extra money to stay onsite the night before, I want to get that extra jump on my FP booking!

We are planning on adding the dining plan to our GF stay anyway, just haven't yet called to make the change. So the question is, will they let me add the dining plan and remove the tickets? That way, we would still have a package at the GF, but I could book the tickets separately and be able to book my FP based on my POR stay. I will call and ask, but it seems like CMs often don't know all of the rules, so I thought I would ask on here first!

Thanks!

You should be able to add the DDP and drop the tickets, it would just be a ticketless package. As far as booking FP, I could be wrong, but I think you will still have to wait an extra day to book FP for your GF stay. You will be able to book 60 days ahead for the POR stay, but you won't be able to book for the GF stay until 60 days from that arrival date as I think it goes by the length of your resort stay. As I said, I'm not positive, so hopefully someone will be able to verify that or corrct me if I'm wrong.

OP will be able to book FPs for all park days when the 60 day window opens if the tickets get separated from the package.

Onsite stay > onsite stay keeps the FP booking window open through the check-out day of the 2nd reservation. This will only work if the tickets are not part of the 2nd package.

This is good to know, thanks :goodvibes.

That is what I had thought as well! Also wasn't sure, though.

Good to know! I think that I was confused with booking ADR's which works a bit differently?

Yes, ADRs can be booked at 180 days out for a 10 day span when an onsite stay is involved and tickets aren't a necessity as they are for FP booking.

I was thinking the same thing, that FP worked the same as ADRs.

You are correct. However, for a split stay, ADRs can only be made 180 (+10) from the start of each reservation. It used to be that you could call and book for both stays at 180 days from the start of the first reservation, but Disney changed that. You now have to wait until the 180 day mark of the second stay to book ADRs for that part of the trip, so I thought FP worked the same way.

Thanks for the info! All of the timeframes are so confusing.

My Magic+ has its own strange set of rules. One of the most interesting is offsite people (MDE) linked to onsite people (MDE) get to book at the 60 day window. So it's strange that onsite > onsite can't book for their total # of days for ADRs.

You're welcome....and thank you for the information on booking FP :). I agree about things being confusing. Planning a Disney vacation isn't as easy as it used to be.

I didn't know about offsite people being able to book FP at 60 days if they're linked to onsite people. Yes, it is very strange how that is, but yet onsite people who do a split stay can no longer book ADRs for the entire time at the first 180 day mark :sad2:.

I was able to book FP's for my entire stay and I'm doing a similar split stay. I added on a night at ASMu before my WL stay because flying in the day before was roughly $200 cheaper. I also have an AP so I didn't have to worry about the tickets, but I just wanted to add my "testimony." :goodvibes
