We have time between parks to see one other resort for holiday decor. Which would you see, GF or WL? And why? 2 adults, DS 4, DD,6.

that is a hard question! both are fabulous!! is there any way you could possibly have a meal at one of the resorts and then during the time between parks see the other resort? however, from any park you could go to the resort, check it out, and then take the bus to your next destination. since i am partial to the wilderness lodge then that would be my choice. just the lodge itself it an experience. very homey, not at all like being in a theme park. the christmas decorations there are more traditional whereas at the GF they are a little over the top. very ornate, very fancy looking. the children would like the lodge. this does not sound very convinicing, does it?! LOL we just love the lodge and at christmas it is breath-taking.:duck:

I would pick the WL cause it's just cool. I almost always like WL ginger bread house better than GF with the ski stuff and all. GF's is much more Victorian, I think it's a matter of taste.

How about????? :smooth:

Wilderness Lodge, the Lodge is beautful at Christmas the decore just says it's Christmas. The Lobby with the fireplace feels so cozy and I guess more intimate when any other Resort at WDW,
maybe because it isn't so GRAND just homey....

Definitely GF. My daughter thought the gingerbread house was the most wonderful thing she had ever seen. The tree is beautiful too and they always have terrific choirs and bands playing as well. Enjoy!

Last year we stayed in the WL in December and while it is beautiful and homey, the GF is really very beautiful. The gingerbread house is really neat and the tree is awesome. If you can only do one, I would say the GF.

Try to make time for both.Maybe eat at WL and make a stop at the GF on the way to the MK.It would be a shame to miss either one.

If I could see only one, I'd choose the GF but that's because the Victorian Christmas theme is more to my taste than a rustic Christmas theme. Both are stunning and I agree that if you can manage it, try to see both.

Really an apple/oranges question. They are both fantastic, but GF is victorian/feminine while WL is rustic/woodlands like. I'm partial to WL (we've been there 3 times for Christmas) with the whole atmosphere of pines trees, fireplaces, and log cabin feel. so incredibly cozy!

If the amount of time you have is limited, the GF has such easy access from the MK with the boats and monorail; very little wait time. I do agree with the other posts that trying to visit both won't be disappointed. Lunch at the GF? Dinner at the WL?

I liked both for different reasons. The gingerbread house at the GF is worth a trip for that alone. But than again the WL is so rustic and homey. Tough choice...Do both.

don't limit yourself if you don't stay at a resort go to see it. have seen all momorail, epcot and animal kingdom. just enjoy disney is the best if you dare to dream susan

If you can possibly squeeze in the time to see both, they are worth the effort. When I was there in December 2000, I went to the GF one night by hopping off the monorail one night. Now, I've seen many Christmas trees, but my jaw literally dropped when I entered the GF atrium. I had never been into GF before, so the whole experience was impressive. What made it even more magical was that there was a choir performing in the atrium.

Later that week I took the behind the scenes Christmas tour, which included a stop at the WL. Although it was also a beautiful tree, it just looked like a bigger version of what you can find at any nice Christmas decorations store. The tour went there in the late morning, so the lobby was pretty empty. Maybe it would have been more effective at night.

If you are a fan of holiday decorations, I would definitely recommend the behind the scenes tour. It takes you to the World Showcase at Epcot, Main Street in the MK, the Osbourne Lights at the Studios (I know, no lights this year), and WL.
