Assuming (that is a big assumption) that I can get a room at the end of December, where should we stay? When we found out this morning that we needed find a place to stay for a few nights, hubby immediately said that he wanted to stay somewhere we never have before. He mentioned the GF and POLY. Just want feedback, pros and cons for each. TIA.

This is one of those hard decisions that are great fun to make. I am sure you will get responses for both choices. I have stayed at both and loved them both!! I hope to return to both. I would say that the GF might win out for me though. It is such a beautiful resort (so it the Polynesian).

Personally, I preferred Gaspirilla's over Captain Hooks and I really enjoyed the Grand Floridian Cafe.

I also loved hearing the WDW railroad from my balcony!

This probably didn't help you at all, sorry. Have fun deciding.

I've stayed at and highly recommend both! Each has it's own charm, but for a Dec. stay I would pick the GF.

The GF is IMHO the best decorated resort for Christmas. It has a huge tree, a life sized gingerbread house that's used as a snack shop, lots of garlands and flowers. They have live Christmas music in the lobby and someone roasting chestnuts at the entrance. Staying there really puts you in the Christmas spirit.

We have stayed at both and like the Poly better. BUT at Christmas the GF is decorated to the hilt. It was beautifully done so I would reccomend the GF at Christmas and the Poly the rest of the year....

Cast another vote for the GF. As the others have stated, the resort is just beautiful 365 days of the year, but at the holidays it is out of this world.:D

My all time favorite resort Anywhere is the Grand Floridian. I find it just heaven. Plus, I need a jacuzzi on vacation and the Poly doesn't have one.:bounce: :sunny: :bounce: :bounce:

and we like the Poly far better. We enjoy the relaxing, tropical atmosphere versus the "stuffiness" of the GF. Although GF is a beautiful resort and we found the service to be superb. Not trashing it - it's just that the Poly is more our style.

I also thought that the Poly had the Disney magic more so than the Grand. Although I did like it when the CMs said "Have a grand day." - Nice touch. But, I really liked hearing "Aloha." They are both great resorts so I think it depends on which theme you prefer. The pool at the Poly is much much better.

As far as restaurants - I like the Grand restaurants better but you can walk from one resort to the next so it's no big deal. Breakfast is an exception - the Poly wins with the Kona Cafe.

I'm going back and forth on this - so again...pick a theme and you'll be happy either way.
