GF or Poly...for a DVC?

Just wondering.....

If DVC were to add to either or both the Poly or GF would major bucks have to be spent adding cars to the monorail system?
Adding DVC resorts would be basically adding new resorts to the system. I have only stayed at the GF once and getting back to the resort in the late evening from MK is a long wait on that monorail. And this was early May when the crowds were low. Adding resorts will make it more difficult.
This shouldn't be a problem with BLT because I would think a large majority of people walk back and for some reason the Epcot and TTC monorails never seem as crowded as the MK ones.

I voted for the GF. Just because it seems like they have more room for it. I love the Poly but it's always so crowded there already. I don't know where they'd put all those added guests in the common areas!

I enjoy the Ohana breakfast, but even with the MK view, I have never thought I liked the Poly design enough to want to stay there, although the Luau intrigues me. I think DVC did the Poly right by starting construction on the real Hawaii.

The GF (Love the design, and why I still want to stay at BCV is the overall design is the closest to GF) , I was thinking DVC might be able to pull off an exclusively "Grand Gatherings" villas at GF -- All GV's, nothing smaller.

Love the Poly. Instead of using weekend points, we stay at the Poly. We are near MK and on the monorail. July 4th fireworks on Poly beach were wonderful. Best fireworks show ever!

IMHO the Poly would be easier to do, it has the highest return visitor rate of any WDW hotel ( more customers for DVC to sell to) and the guests that pay $$ to stay there wouldn't look down on the resort if it had a Timeshare wing to it. IMHO some of the people that are prepared to pay the extra to stay at the GF because it's Disney's flagship resort would feel Disney had taken the resort down market. I don't agree with them, but I feel certain that would be a fear to Disney's higher management. So those are the reasons I think, for DVC , it's a better/more achievable option.

As far as a place to buy. IMHO Poly has a better theme to fit with DVC, it has better transportation (Epcot Monorail in walking distance) than the GF, The Neverland club is the best childcare on property and this poll suggests it would be better received by the paying public.

I'd prefer the Poly (even over the BLT), but where would they put it? Space is pretty tight in that area.

I tried to vote for the Poly like 28 times, (see signature image below;) ) but was only allowed to vote once by the system. What gives???

Both would be fun, but if I had to vote for only one, it would be the Polynesian.

I voted Poly, all the way!

We've stayed at both, and while we loved the upscale, "cushy" feel of the Grand, the Poly has been our family's favorite resort since ds was little. I am incredibly emotionally attached to the place!

Plus, I think the theming would be amazing to have in a DVC resort. An add-on would definitely be in our future if they ever decided to convert a longhouse or two. :cloud9:

NEITHER.....

There is enough traffic/people on the monorail already.. Let's not destroy any more of the "magic".:rolleyes1

I voted Poly, because I like the theme better there, but in reality, I really have ZERO desire to be on the monorai. Magic Kingdom is our least favorite park, and while I would enjoy having a long distance view of Wishes each evening, it isn't enough to make me want to stay there every trip.

We are the kind of people who visit many resorts during each stay. We always stop at the Poly and GF at least once a trip, as well as Contemporary. Often it's for a dinner reservation, or if it's holiday time...to see the gingerbread. We do like to go the GF to listen to the live music too. I can do all of that without staying at those places though, and I have never had any burning desire to stay at either one. I LOVE my two chosen home resorts just fine.

The thing I don't like about all of the monorail resorts is that they feel like Grand Central Station - the lobbies are always packed with non-resort guests that are there to eat & they don't seem relaxing. The chaos of Chef Mickeys is enough to make me never want to stay at CR.

I actually think DVC is the best thing that can happen to the monorail resorts because it can create a quieter and more relaxed space at the resorts - as well as likely bringing improvements in the pools.

For that reason, I'd love to see what DVC could bring to the POLY!
