We are headed back to WDW in December. We've stayed at the Poly for our last two trips and stayed at the WL the time before that. The WL was my first preference for this next trip but it's not available. The Poly was so I booked it. I'm second guessing that now though because I see that the GF is available. Convince me to switch! :flower3:

Reasons we love the Poly - monorail convenience, being able to easily watch Wishes from our resort, theme, restaurant choices, and the quiet pool that's available. I think that's all.

My family and I stayed at the Polynesian last December and thought it was great. However the Grand Floridian is also a great Resort, plus you still get to use the Monorail and watch Wishes from there. So I am sure you will be happy no matter where you end up staying.

Thanks, I suppose that's true. Just so tough to justify the extra $$...

How much is the price difference?

You said "Convince me to switch!" so it sounds as if you really do want to stay at the GF. If it's not cost-prohibative I'd say that you should go for it. :) You'll have basically the same conveniences (although the TRC/Epcot monorail wouldn't be just a short path away), so if this is something you always wanted to do, do it now :)

Also if you prefer the restaurants at the Polynesian they're just a monorail (or boat!) ride away.

There, have I convinced you yet??

We like variety...
if you go with the Poly, which is awesome, you know what it will be like.
If you don't go with GF, you will wonder what it will be like to stay there, so maybe end up booking another trip to try the GF, so you won't be wondering anymore.
This would be my thinking. So therefore, I'd go with the GF in my reasoning...:rotfl: silly, I know...:upsidedow

I'm of the mindset that you should try every resort at least once. So I say go for the GF if you have done the Poly already. :cool1:

We are going in November and staying 4 nights at GF and 4 nights at Poly - Does this help your decision?

LOL - that is so awesome but I don't think my husband would go for that. How do you book a package like this, just out of curiosity - is it two separate packages?

The GF is a wonderful experience -- very different from the other resorts, but with a charm and character all its own. And you can't beat the convenience. And yeah, Christmas is drop-dead amazing at the GF: the tree, the lights, the chestnuts roasting outside...when we were there they had bellringers in the lobby one night. It's very Dickensian! :)

Go with the GF, we make it a point to stay there each time we go. The atmostphere is great, and the staff are very helpful.

I agree with this :thumbsup2 although it can be hard to give up the comfort of familiarity with a place... bottom line is you cannot go wrong. Also consider holding out hope for WL if it truly is your 1st choice. People cancel/modify their plans all the time so you might end up finding availability there. Keep checking every day or every few days...

Hi debit34,
We just came back Friday from the poly and we came back in Dec from GF. We also have another trip booked for this Dec for GF and I just thought I would come on and give my opinion on both resorts and Convince you to stay at GF lol;)
This was our first time staying at the Poly and we loved it however we feel that GF is definitely our favorite Resort it was our first time staying at GF last Dec and it is Definitely worth the extra $$$ It is just wonderful there we stayed for two weeks and my Mom, Sister and I were definitely on the verge of crying when we had to leave lol (but doesn't everyone when they have to leave Disney? lol)
The Service is wonderful the Cm's practically trip over each other to help you with what ever you need. The service is wonderful at the Poly as well but you just can't beat the GF on quality of service! It was my 18th birthday trip and my sister's 16th and we felt like royalty they just make you feel so special at the GF like you are the most important guests staying there!
It is Beautiful at Christmas walking through the lobby at night going back to your room you can smell the gingerbread yummy:)
Have I convinced you yet? lol
Another thing we noticed is that the rooms at the poly and GF are the same size but, The beds at the GF are more comfortable and the room is so bright and cheerful!
Hope this helped=)
I agree with the others on the fact that you may regret it if you don't book the GF and like seaspray said you did say "convince me" so sounds like you really wanna stay!
I know that there is a price difference but once you come back from your relaxing trip at GF you will be so glad you paid the extra$$ I know my parents were glad they did!
I hope you are happy with which ever on you choose and Have a Magical Vacation:goodvibes

Thank you so much! I'm leaning that way, I've always wanted to stay there and this might just be our best chance! This could be our last Disney trip for a couple of years....:lovestruc
