We have booked a Lodge Tower Room at the GF for our December vacation. Does anyone know if all of these rooms have balconies or is this something I should call back and request on our reservation?

Thanks for any info

Not sure if you need it, but here's a site which shows the layout of the lodge tower room, http://www.the-grahams.net/gf/rooms.html. Most do have balconies, but I'm not too sure about the view. Unlike other rooms at this resort, there is no view associated with that room type. I believe most are garden, but you might want to inquire about having water view notated on your reservation.

The rooms on the top floor DO NOT have balconies. In 2004 we stayed at the GF lodge concierge tower room(which is by request only in the concierge building) and were put on the top floor and there was NO balcony. I asked if there were rooms with one and they moved us just one floor down and we had a very private long balcony. They told me it was top floor only that doesn't have one.
PS, the tower room was great!

This is the exact room that I want. How did you request it?? Did you get this when you booked or did you have to fax them a room request? THey keep telling me that there is not such thing? THanks for the help. :flower:

db4huskers,

A standard lodge tower room is bookable through CRO, Disney online or with your travel agent. You just ask for this specific room type when making your reservation. It costs about $100 more per night than a standard garden view. I know you want a lagoon view, but I don't think that you can get one with a lodge tower room. You can request high floor, low floor, water view, etc. when you make your reservation.

As an FYI, the room that MermaidsMom spoke about is in SugarLoaf. This building only houses lodge concierge rooms. If you already have an existing reservation for lodge concierge, then you can simply put in a request for the tower room with your pre-planners.

Edited to add link for room types and rates, http://www.the-grahams.net/gf/rates.html.

Do these rooms have doors to close off the sitting area? I am thinking of upgrading for our trip in December to a lodge tower room to have the sitting area for when our DD naps, but I would only do that if you can "close off" the sitting area. Does anyone know?

We stayed in a lodge tower room in Sugar Loaf a few weeks ago and there were no doors to close off the sitting area. I am not sure about other lodge tower rooms, though. I was surprised to find out that usually lodge tower rooms have balconies!!! Ours did not and I would have really liked one!! You learn something everyday on the DIS.

I know that Sugarloaf is this way, are the other buildings also the same? Each building has tower rooms but are all top floors without a patio?

Here's a pic from Deb Willis's site, allearsnet.com. It's of the Boca Chica building. You can see the lodge tower room clearly and from the slope of the roof line, that top floor one doesn't have a balcony.

Tammi - so let me get it straight......all lodge tower rooms have balconies except the top floor lodge tower rooms???? I didn't even notice that the other tower rooms had them. Hmmmm. We weren't around much, I guess.

I liked our 4th floor SL room because it had the vaulted ceiling. I thought that was special. I would have liked a balcony, though. Do the other SL building lodge tower rooms have balconies???

Thanks for the info.

This is the layout shown for the lodge tower rooms and it does include a balcony. Top floors wouldn't have one if they are up as high as the peaked roof lines and the 6 turret rooms in the main building do not have them. They are considered honeymoon suites there though.

Does the second floor tower lodge room in Sugar Loaf have a balcony?

I could very easily have this mixed up but when we stayed in SL I thought it looked as if that room did not have a balcony. Perhaps I have it mixed up with the top floor?

Here is a photo I found in one of my searches. It should give you a better idea of how separate the living room area is.

You might want to look into a deluxe room at the YachtClub resort. They have french doors which separate the 2 rooms from each other. To see a picture of this style room, go to this site, http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/ASP/costcalc.asp?resId=YC&pageFunction=researcher. Click on the picture link on the right hand side and view #'s 27-33.

That was the room we stayed in a couple of years ago in Sugar Loaf; it was not the top floor, but the one below. I agree that the tower room was great. :goodvibes

In the tower room, it's 4. Unfortunately no day bed and the couch in the living area does not open up.

Thanks Tammi, that's what it looked like from the picture. I can't understand why they give more room to families of 4. We have 5. I guess they want us to book a suite. :rotfl2:

All Lodge Tower rooms are garden view rooms. There are NO lagoon views for this room type. A few of them will face the marina, but none will have a view of Magic Kingdom or the other resorts.

Lori,

Have you seen the layouts of the deluxe rooms at the GF??? They are so much bigger than a standard, but only sleep 4 over the age of 3 :confused3 . A suite, in my dreams!
