Hi there,

I have a upcoming Disney trip on August 30. I'll be staying at the GF (first time on grounds, woohoo!) and have been thinking maybe doing a massage at the GF Spa. I see they have a few kinds of Couples Massages and was wondering if anybody who'd done one of these could give some details on it. Like, is the basic one just a massage for each, but in the same room?

I wanna see if there's anything that's too 'couply' cause the girl I'm traveling with isn't really my g/f you could say, so I don't want have anything too awkward for her to occur...just in case. But we'd still like to be able to be together you know.

I'd greatly appreciate any information.

thanks!!
Shaun

The couples massage is just two adjoining rooms with the door open. You are on one table in one room, and your partner is on another table in the other room. You can see each other if you want during the massage (just open your eyes/turn your head that way, I guess), but I usually have my eyes closed anyway, lol. I think it's really nice, my boyfriend and I have done it the past few trips.

If you're not really a "couple", this is probably not the best choice. The "wall" is open beteen the two rooms from the start, and you generally undress completely during the massage treatment.

DH and I did this a few years ago, but I prefer getting one on my own, and so does he. We like two different styles of massage--he likes bright light clinical sports massage, I like low light aromatherapy swedish massage, so that's something else to keep in mind.

You could always book massages at the same time but not "couples" massages.

Anne,
It seems like you are familiar with the GF spa services. Which one(s) would you recommend? I am staying at the Poly in September and would like to book the services soon. The only problem is deciding, they all sound so wonderful :D

Thanks!

Oy! As my credit card will attest, yes, I've had more than my share of treatments there :)

I enjoy the massages, I mean who doesn't ;)

Of course a manicure and pedicure is always wonderful. I used to ALWAYS use TC, but she left this past spring and started her own mobile nail business. (she's coming to the BCV to do my nails in a few weeks) Vanessa is around now and then, mostly on Sundays. and also does nice work. mandy is there most mornings and she is also wonderful.

I think my favorite is the deluxe facial. It includes a hand and foot massage, and of course a shoulder massage. Kind of like getting a facial and massage in one! They use Jurlique products, which IMHO are the worlds best, I like them better than Phytomer.

I've had a couple of other treatments there as well (a body scrub and some sort of "bath"), but I enjoy the facial the most.

Anne

Thanks for the info! I was actually leaning towards the deluxe facial. Have a great stay at BCV.

I had the paraffin body masque on our last visit--my favorite spa treatment ever! I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Hi there Goofy101---

Welcome to the DIS! Ducklite has a real good point there about the couples massage. I understand (though my Disney Wife and I have not yet personally experienced one-but hope to this October! heheheh) that they can be quite relaxing and uhm romantic. Depending upon where you want to go (and where your "female" friend wants to go) with your relationship is something to consider before booking the couples massage. It also sounds like you will be sharing a room so that raises other "boundary" or "privacy" issues. Things I'm sure you have already thought about and resolved.

Not to worry, you will love the GF - its gorgeous inside and out. The CM's there are friendly, refined and helpful as well. You may want to buy a good massage book, some massage oil and let your friend know you are studying massage and would she mind letting you practice on her? I'd suggest champagne, roses and good quality chocolates as well, but some might accuse me of encouraging irresponsible behavior.

Thanks for the info everyone! If we decide to do the spa, we'll probably "go our seperate ways". Although I might give Darian's idea try ;)

I'm REALLY excited about this trip. It's our 3rd trip together, but first for me staying on grounds. I was able to get a really deal at the GF with a lagoon view. So I can't wait. And no more driving! We're flying into Orlando instead making the 9 hour drive from New Orleans. What a longgggg drive.

Again, thanks for the info!
