I just read on mousesavers newsletter that the Grand Floridian is getting a new floor in the lobby(which I knew was going to happen soon) and other construction involving a crane. It is suppose to be ongoing through November. My vow renewal is Nov. 9th and we will be staying at the GF for the week, along with other family members. We planned on taking pictures in the lobby and on the grounds. My ceremony is at the wedding pavilion and reception at the whitehall room. I am now stressing over this. Anyone know anymore info? It would really bother me if major construction was going on, or if I couldn't take pictures in the lobby on the stairs or by the piano. Anyone else worried about this?

They have already started construction and I believe have completed the second floor. The new tile looks amazing! I'm not sure when the lobby will be done but you can probably find more info on the GF thread on the resorts board.

When we were there in June they were doing construction on some of the outer buildings, there were cranes outside of Sugarloaf but there were plenty of spots where you couldn't see the construction at all and we did our e-pics on the grounds.

For your pics, I think only the lobby pics would be impacted by construction. THe WHR is in the convention center, and there should be plenty of spots outside to take pictures. I hope the lobby will be completed by the time of your vow renewal, I would be disappointed too, but I'm sure the pictures you do get will be fabulous.

We were there at the end of August and they were working on a side area of the first floor by the staircase. I of course didn't pay enough attention to see if they had done the main area.

Thank you both for the replies!

I spoke with my planner and she said the lobby floor is already done!!!:cool1: It is a marble floor and she said it looks fantastic! She also said some buildings are down for rehab but no rooms will be booked in them. Most of it should be done by the tie we get there. I am so relieved!!!
