Hi,

We just spent 3 nights 4 days in a GF Royal Palm concierge room.
We would like to hear from those of you who have recently been there..I have these questions.

1. Was the food offerings in the lounge the same all the days you were there?

2. How many nights/days did you spend there? What month/year was your stay?

3. What view was your room?

4. Were you celebrating birthday/anniversary while you were there.? (special occasion stay)

5. If you were celebrating..did they do anything special for you such as gifts or surprises in the room.

6. If you weren't celebrating..just staying concierge for fun, did they do anything special for you..gifts for surprises in the room.

7. Did you have to pay for valet parking?

8. Did you get a call from concierge before you arrived to help you make any necessary arrangements/reservations etc?

Thanks for your help. I look forward to hearing your responses.

We stayed there in July of 2002, and August of 2003. Both times we stayed main Bldg Concierge, (RPC). The first time we were on the 4th floor, the second time we were on the 3rd floor. On neither trip were we celebrating anything. The food did change in the lounge from day to day although I think there were probably some repeats. I never got any suprises, but found everyone pleasant and helpful. They did get us some last minute dinner PS's for the California Grille and Narcoosees. Hope this helps.

We were in the Sugarloaf concierge (a step down from the RPC) during July 2004. We had awesome service from everyone there. We stayed in a tower room with a beautiful porch that overlooked the "old" pool. The food offerings were different every night, but the daytime offerings were pretty much the same. We were there for 8 nights and had 2 rooms. The concierge staff seemed to LOVE taking care of people when making last minute reservations, checking in for airline flights and boat trips. We were not celebrating anything and did not ask for any special treats, but always got extra shampoos, towels, etc, because housekeeping saw that there were quite a few of us. We did get a call prior to arrival but I didn't want anything from them because we like to wing it as far a dining reservations are concerned. The rooms were both very clean, although I wish that housekeeping in EVERY HOTEL across the land would wipe off wall socket covers and the walls around them. It seems to be a problem everywhere. I do it myself every place we stay along with the door handles and toilet flusher as soon as we get there! We really enjoyed our stay, but not will spend that kind of money again for a hotel. It is very expensive, and although it was fun, we seem to have fun everywhere we go and can accomplish that for alot less. We usually stay at the BWI or BC/YC and did enjoy being so close to the MK for a change.

1. I think that breakfast might have been basically the same each day, but the other offerings varied slightly day to day.

2. Our most recent stay was Jan, 2004 4 nights

3. We had a panoramic view from the Poly over to the Magic Kingdom

4. We were actually celebrating my 40th birthday and our 20th anniversary.

5. I can only assume that because we were there at a very slow time and were repeat customers we did get a few surprises. The first was an upgrade to a honeymoon suite on the 5th floor. We also received autographed photos of Minnie & Mickey. I had pre-ordered a bottle of champagne, fully intending to pay for it, but the concierge staff sent one up complimentary.

6. In previous visits to the GF main building, we had not been celebrating anything special and had never before been given any gifts or surprises, other than those that I had pre-arranged and paid for.

7. Yes. Only DCV members had the benefit of free valet parking. I believe the charge was $6.00 per day.

8. No. I initiated contact with them via e-mail. I've always found it hit or miss with getting anything ahead of time from the pre-planners, so I always check in with them as soon as I can.

We've always had wonderful visits to the main building. My one complaint is that Disney's pre-planning service doesn't seem to have any standard procedures to follow. You'll hear about some resorts that send out a wonderful packet of information and a questionnaire to help you plan. I wish that they would set a policy for all the resorts and stick with it. Those that have never stayed in concierge and aren't contacted ahead of time, are basically paying for a service (pre-planning) that they aren't getting.

Webray, I'm sorry to hear that you're stay at the GF was less than spectacular. I'll await your trip reports to hear the details.

We stayed there in April for our honeymoon.

We were called prior to our arrival.

On arrival we were upgraded to a room on the second floor with a perfect castle view and a king sized bed.

Since our room wasn't ready we were comped dinner at 1900 Park fare. Where they had alerted them it was my birthday and the CM brought out a crown, cupcake etc and sang happy Bday.

Otherwise, we enjoyed the food and drinks in the lounge, the view, the room, the grounds.....it was magical.

We didn't pay for concierge, we self parked. We didn't get anything special in our room, but we certainly didn't expect it.

Everyone is at WDW for some special occassion. I didn't think I was any more special than anyone else staying there.
