Hello again all

So, we have booked our wedding and are now looking at reception locations. We have decided on the GF Cafe but i am wondering how to book?

We are booked on the Disney dining plan so do i book our reception meal in the same way as other restaurants i.e. at 180 days through the usual reservations number? Or is there a direct number for GF Cafe? As there will be 17 of us in total i would like to atleast try and have us all sat together. I dont want to go through DFTW to arrange this and bump up our minimum spend!

Thanks x

I am hoping to do the same at GF Cafe (the week after you!) and presumed we'd need to book it through normal ADR route, so would be interested in hearing any other suggestions too.

We are having our rehearsal dinner at 'Ohana for 30 people and we just waited for the 180 days and called and made an ADR. They won't guarantee your party will sit together but they will try their best to accomodate. Apparently for large parties they will either want you to dine first seating or last seating, not a normal dinner time when the restaurant will be very busy. I'd suggest calling early in the morning right at 180 days if you're set on a specific place. Good luck! :goodvibes

Hi and Congratulations!

We held our daughters Rehearsal Lunch at GF cafe. It was wonderful!!!
I called the cafe myself and dealt with a wonderful woman named Linda. Sorry I don't remember her last name it was 4 years ago this month.

We were 20 people and they had one long table and tables right next to the long table that were against the wall.

We had the entire section to ourselves it was perfect. We had a cake table with a cake they had made for us.

She let us choose 4 or 5 appetizers, and 4 or 5 entrees. She made personalized menus with their names and the date of the rehearsal. It was such a nice touch.

The cake was a sheet cake with vanilla cake and chocolate ganache filling with a white chocolate mickey and minnie on top.

It turned out so nice the staff went above and beyond for us.

Good Luck!
Lori

I just responded to a similar question on another thread...I'll copy & paste my response for you:

We just had our escape wedding at the end of January and had our lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. There were 15 of us total and because the time we booked was for 1:45pm, the lunch crowd was basically over. We were seated all together near the back of the restaurant and had our flower arrangements from the ceremony (at the WP) transferred over to our tables. The GFC also printed out special menus for everyone to keep that said something about our wedding on top (I can't remember right now exactly what they said and they are still packed with breakables we haven't unpacked yet) including giving us envelopes to take them home in. The food was great, everyone thought so! We also had our cake from our cake cutting moved down there to be served after lunch. Best decision ever because even though we didn't have a "private room" it felt like we did! It also saved us so much time in the day not having to transfer everyone to another resort or downtown etc just to eat!
I highly recommend them when booking a lunch yourself!

Sooooo - to further answer you questions, we booked online through the regular disney dining website. originally we book for the max of 12 people and then when we realized we needed to increase the size to 15 people, we called the restaurant directly and they just had us book 2 separate reservations but they put a note in their system that it was all one group and it was our reception lunch. They were super nice and accommodating!

We looked in to the GF Cafe when we were looking into a venue for our VR reception meal. We contacted the manager of the restaurant way ahead of our ADR date and corresponded with her several times via e-mail. She was so lovely and friendly and really tried to help. She answered all our queries quickly and efficiently and offered (as did many other restaurant managers we contacted), to make our ADR for us on the correct day, so as we knew we would get our reservation.
The only reason we did not use the GF Cafe was that they could not guarantee that the whole party of 14 would be sat together (although they would try). This was of paramount importance to us. Many restaurants said the same thing, mind you, and one of the reasons we chose Citrico's was they would guarantee this for us.
It would seem that the poster above, however, had all her party sat together, so maybe things have changed!!
Good luck with your decision!!

Thanks everyone for your responses, very helpful! Hopefully they can have us all sat together x

We had our rehearsal dinner at flying fish. We dealt with them dirrectly - we had the whole semi private area towards the back our ourselves. I recommend calling GF cafe directly and seeing what they can do for you. Good luck!!

Can anyone please advise where i would find the direct number for GF cafe? Do i just google it or is it insider information that they dont often give out? ha x :rotfl:

Thanks x

I wonder if you called the hotel directly perhaps they could transfer you.

Otherwise ask your coordinator.

Good luck
