I have my heart set on trying the GF Afternoon Tea on our trip next year, but now am scared that my DH might feel out of place. :sad2: How many of you have gone as a couple and enjoyed it? My DH will go for me, but I do not want him to feel like he shouldn't be there. We both enjoy tea so I thought it would be fun. We also wanted to check out the rest of the GF as it will be December when we are there and it will be decorated for the holidays.

Hi
There's no way my DH would go to the tea. You know what your DH likes. My DH is the one who always wants to be in the sports bar drinking a beer. We're going in December and I know our first night there, we'll be at the ESPN club for Monday night football. I've gone to the tea before and it is very relaxing. I loved it. The GF is beautiful especially at Christmas. If you go to the tea, have a great time.

My hubby would go with me, but he would not be comfortable. The food is dainty, for lack of a better word, and the whole event is pretty frou frou.

Now, when we are both in our 60's, then I could see him being more comfortable going as a couple.

For now, I will do this event solo or with girlfriends who enjoy the tea experience. If your husband enjoys this type of event, cool!

It's good you're thinking about it beforehand. I wish I had (and so does DH). We went to the GF tea a few years ago, because I really wanted to try it. Well, DH sat there the whole time, looking like "Tim the Tool Man Taylor tries to do the Grand Floridian Tea." Although he tried to say it was OK, he looked so uncomfortable! I kept giggling throughout the tea, looking at him (the memory is making me giggle, too). I'd never ask him to do it again.

........since I am a DH.

This is one of our favorite things at WDW. If your DH is a tea lover it will be fine. They have food offerings geared to the man in your life. Our whole family takes the time when we are home to sit and enjoy some special time around a bone china pot full of tea. It is awsome to sit at the GF Tea Room with my DW and 3 DD's to share a slow leisurely afternoon tea. The server there was amazed that our DD4 wanted hot tea, not chocolate milk.

Go for it.........I think he will really enjoy the time he gets to spend watching you do something you enjoy.

:thumbsup2

We did this during our honeymoon, and first trip to WDW. I wanted to try it, and they had a spot open so on spurt of the moment we grabbed it. I liked it, and thought it was nice, but the only 2 men I saw the entire time there were with their wives. These were a much much older couple my husband only ordered a pot of tea while I did the grand tea the main one. The atmosphere was very much women. He was uncomfortable. I liked the tea, and would go with a girlfriend, but I would not make DH go with me again cause it really made him feel out of sorts he basically went because I wanted to try it.

You don't have to be old!

I am only 35. I do not agree that the atmoshpere is "woman". It is not a sports-bar atmoshpere, but I think men can feel comfortable here too. If a man has a strong sense of self, is interested in spending time with his DW and enjoy's trying something new he will love it.

Beer, chicken wings and cigars are not the extent of men's interest.......just let them know what they are in for and encourage them to be secure in the idea Real Men Drink Tea Too!

My FIL and fiance had a great time! But they are really good sports also ;). My favorite thing to do with my MIL is drink hot tea and talk.

And yes, I had to make an ADR. It was the first thing we did as soon as we got to WDW. We were ahead of schedule and they couldn't take us early because it was packed! But very nice atmosphere! It was so much fun.

my DH was a good sport about it, but he'd never sit thru it again with me! (once he sat down and the server realized he wouldn't be drinking tea, they took away all his fancy china...) so now, i go alone

I'd like my DH to go with me, but he'll be playing mini-golf with my DS and oldest DD. I'll be taking my 2 younger DD's that day oafter our appointment at BBB.

My husband, father, and 10 year old son have all been and they all seem to like it.

My husband is a beer-drinking, sports loving, blue collar worker and he really likes the tea. Yeah, it is predominantly woman in there but what REAL man wouldn't LOVE that??:confused3

Hubby and I both enjoy tea and we did go to tea at GF together.

He loved it and so did I. We each chose a different "meal" and shared a bit. His came with a port, mine with a champagne. Go and enjoy!

My fiance loved it! But then again, we go for afternoon tea on a regular basis.

It's very quiet and relaxing so at the very least it will be a nice break from the parks :)

I NEVER said you had to be old!!!! I am just saying it was older ladies who were there. I liked it, but DH felt badly uncomfortable, and no he is not a berr drinking sports bar man. He does not do bars. It just made him feel very out of place. I enjoyed it, but wouldnt drag dh back to it I would go alone or with friends.

Hi
I'm 57 and so is my DH and my DH has a strong sense of self, and is always interested in things I like to do. I just know he wouldn't be comfortable at the tea. We just had our 38th wedding anniversary. "Beer, chicken wings and cigars" are not the extent of my DH's interest, but if he's not happy at the tea, I wouln't want him to do it. When I go to Disney with my girlfriends, my DD and DGD and I go to the tea with them.

Have taken my athletic 18 year old son and husband to tea at GF.
Maybe not their first choice for atmospshere, but they loved the tea choices (food, I mean), and it was very relaxing. I'm planning to do it again with my husband this Fall.
