Getting your drink on in the most magical place on earth

If you've ever been to Vegas or New York, the drink prices at WDW are actually cheaper.

Also, the bartenders tend to have a heavy pour.

Agreed. I live in New York, so it's nice to go to WDW and see cheaper drink prices :) and I also agree on the heavy pour!

When we were there in March, I'm pretty sure my Avocado was premade, as I had to send it back for more tequila. DH had a few on the rocks and they seemed to be the same as always.

I had a jalapeño margarita at la cava in January, where the crowd levels were about three, and half the tables inside were vacant. The first one was dropped on the floor and had to be remade. It took about a minute. At the very least, the sour mix is premade. It was good, but not worth the upcharge over all the other margaritas that are sold at WDW. Very disappointing. I get that they became very popular because of the margaritas, but they shouldn't have reduced quality to get more people in and out the doors. And the bartender was gruff at best. It wasn't a "where's the Disney magic" moment. I would have been annoyed if the bartender at Outback treated me like I was wasting his time.

I'll likely stick to the wine flights at Spice Road and Tutto Gusto. I was happy with the margarita I had at the Dawa bar at AK. I'm always there with my kids, so the lighter pour doesn't bother me too much. The drinker in me is annoyed, but the mom in me is happy to have a nice drink that won't get me drunk.

We were at Epcot on Saturday, just DH and I and one thing I learned is that drinking around the world results in peeing around the world! DH threatened to make me a t-shirt of the world showcase with all the restrooms highlighted so I could check off each one as I stopped.

I would totally buy this!:rotfl:

This thread is awesome. I have a question:
Where can you get cocktails/distilled alcohol in DHS other than Tune-In Lounge? I didn't see any last trip. All the stands I saw were all beer and wine and between last trip and this trip I discovered I have a brewer's yeast allergy
Tune-In was super busy every time we checked last time so I'm hoping for a good back up if I want a drink!

Hollywood Brown Derby has an outdoor lounge now.

Sometimes there is a portable bar located outside of Sci-Fi and it serves cocktails,

Happy to have found this thread as well!

One of my favorite things about Disney World in general is drinks at the WS. Each time we go I like to try something different in a few of the counties.

Has anyone else tried Tipsy Ducks in Love from the kiosk in China? SOOOO good. Like a boozy mocha iced coffee.

We'll be there in October and I'll have to try one of the new ice cream martins. I also read that they now have super sized grey goose/grand marnier slushies. Perfection!

When we go, my husband and I will usually pick up a case of Yeungling - we usually have a car and they sell beer everywhere off site it seems. Although we usually bus it to EPCOT of course.

LaCava is great place to get a margarita with chips and queso. The Dawa Bar next to Tusker House also makes a African Margarita that I liked even better !

African Margaritas used to be one of the many things I most looked forward to but during my trip in early February of this year, I was very disappointed when I learned that they now premix it instead of making it fresh. Sadly, the quality has gone down now (and the bartender I recognized from many trips before has been consistently not too friendly) so I vowed no longer to bother going to Dawa for mixed drinks on the menu.

At AK, IMO for the money, you're better off now going to the Yak & Yeti snack/beverage stand on the right side of the restaurant where the seating is located & getting a premixed frozen Yak Attack or flavored Margarita for $9 (no tip since it's a counter service). I found the alcohol in them both to be adequate for the money you pay & did not find them to be weak. :)

Take note that La Cava is no longer mixing their margaritas to order, making them far less enticing, at least to my mind.

First Dawa & now La Cava? Geez..it's good to know that there are so many other options for a freshly made drink on property or kiosks where no tips are required for premixed drinks!

Maybe when I go, I'll ask if they can either freshly make what I want or which ones they do not have premixed at the moment. I usually get a friendly, accommodating bartender when I stop in there for a drink to go.

Tune In is a good option but they do tend to stay pretty busy being attached to 50s Prime Time Cafe. I've read that at High Octane Refreshments (attached to the Studios Catering counter service restaurant) is a full bar that also serves several different margaritas on the menu which are of good quality. I plan to try this on my next trip instead of fighting the crowds inside Tune In.

I've never noticed the stand outside Sci Fi but I'm not often in that area of the park so I'll have to keep an eye out next time I am. I stopped at a portable stand this past July in HS by the stage where they had the Monsters University dance party & had a very weak margarita made which was promptly fixed to become an incredibly strong one. :goodvibes

Also, the Golden Margarita at the Anaheim Produce stand on the street going toward ToT is premixed but my favorite margarita on property at this point as far as taste, quality & value are concerned. And extra points for being really refreshing on a hot day in the park. :thumbsup2

***As much as I love this thread & the content on it, I'd like to remind you all about either bringing your own bottle for water w/you or taking advantage of the free cups of ice water to go at any full service bar or table & quick service restaurants. Unfortunately, I've learned that lesson the hard way one very hot, sunny day at Epcot. Not a fun way to spend a day on vacation (or even just a few hours ). ***

Tipsy Ducks in Love is magical deliciousness and basically perfection... and like all things that are perfect... it couldn't last.

I have heard a report that Tipsy Ducks is gone from Epcot.

My husband and I are big craft beer drinkers and are looking forward to getting some brews that can only be found in that area/side of the country. This is our first trip to WDW and we'll be staying at POFQ.

Any recommendations or must haves as far as beers?

I love going into the UK pub & getting a Black Velvet (1/2 Guiness, 1/2 Cider). It's really delicious. :)

Disney does a decent job with craft beers (MUCH better than a few years ago). Not sure where you are from but Cigar City is a Florida brewery that has a few well regarded beers including the Jai Alai IPA that is difficult to get outside the southeast but is available here and there at Disney. If you like IPAs the Sweetwater IPA (from a brewery in Atlanta) is also good. Terrapin Hopsecutioner is good as well (from a Baltimore brewery I believe). Port Orleans will have several options from Abita, a New Orleans brewery. Abita has some decent beers. The Birra Amiata Contessa Italian Pale Ale that you can get at Epcot is very good, can be difficult to find in other places and very overpriced at Disney. I was lucky enough to get it on tap at Tutto Gusto and if you can find it there then highly recommended.

A great website for beer at Disney is http://beersandears.net/.

I do agree. They have a surprising selection of local & import craft beer. I went searching all over off property earlier this month for Abita Strawberry seasonal & didn't think to look for it at Port Orleans lounge! Have you seen that one there around this time of year?

What are the best hotel bars to sink a drink or two? Our hotel only has a pool bar, so planning on gracing a few of the classier hotels in the evenings with our presence! :thumbsup2

We like the Wave bar at Contemporary, Tambu lounge at Poly, Mizner's at GF, and Territory Lounge at WL....make it a monorail crawl and add in a boat ride to WL!

bluezoo at the Dolphin is another great choice.

I'm going to second Territory Lounge. I went there on my solo trip last year and it was wonderful! It's a quiet little place that I would love to go back to. I had the Scottish raspberry lemon drop and it was delicious! :thumbsup2
