Getting your drink on in the most magical place on earth

Haven't checked this thread in a couple weeks. So very sad and disappointed that La Cava and Dawa Bar are using premade margarita mixes..... What else?

Are we sure they are using premade for the margaritas on the rocks? Or just the blended margaritas?

Have any of you taken bottles in your checked luggage? I'm assuming it would be fine with bubble wrap. Cocktails in the room might be nice before we walk to EP for more cocktails ;)

We have! Also make sure you get a ziplock bag to put them in just in case they do break.

We also like bringing the little airport shots with us- much more manageable.

Josh at easywdw had a post not too long ago where they were pouring margaritas (on the rocks) from a premixed plastic jug. :(

eeww.

My specialty drinks I want to try (throughout 9 days/nights, not all in one day :rotfl:):

Sugar Cane Mojito - Animal Kingdom Dawa Bar
Orange Vodka Lemonade - Animal Kingdom Flame Tree BBQ

Lime Sake Cocktail - Japan bar outside of Katsura Grill
Peach Snap - China Kiosk
Bellini - Italy Kiosk
Grapefruit Beer - Germany

Martini Flight - Hollywood Brown Derby (can we just go to bar/lounge for this?)

And then just various wine at food/wine fest, maybe wine to end the night at the hotel.

Oh and a pitcher of Sangria at Via Napoli the night we arrive! :hyper:

Those sound amazing.

Woohoo, so psyched about this thread. :cool1: Half of my planning for our October trip has been about where and when to booze.

We're going to be drinking around World Showcase for the first time, and it's going to be during F&W. For you vets out there, how much do you typically spend just sampling some of the kiosks around WS? Do they just have beer and wine or will there be a ton of mix drinks too? Or for mix drinks should i just research the Epcot standards and stick with wine/beer at the festival kiosks? Will the info on what will be available and how much it costs come out in advance or do we have to wait for the festival to start and for people to come back with firsthand reports?

BTW, hope to see some of you with drink in hand the first week of October this year! :thumbsup2

This past year at F&W there were many cocktails available from various kiosks. Josh at easywdw went around to every booth right after the festival began and posted photos and reviews of all the foods and beverages. If you go to his site you may be able to find it.

You can spend a little or a lot depending upon how free you are with your wallet. I took a friend one day and dropped $200 on the two of us. One of the CMs at my resort's front desk was laughing when I asked him to print a copy of my charges about half way through my trip because it just kept going on for pages and pages...

Yes. I took the flat flask-like plastic bottles. And as was suggested, put them into zip top bags just in case, but there were no leaks.

Tipsy Ducks in Love is magical deliciousness and basically perfection... and like all things that are perfect... it couldn't last. I have heard a report that Tipsy Ducks is gone from Epcot.

I have confirmation that it is still available!

But are they pre-mixing fresh ingredients each day to save time (which I wouldn't have a problem with) or is this some generic "margarita mix" made in a factory somewhere that is full of weird chemicals? That I can get at any bar in America...

For some of their margaritas, premixing is likely not to create a quality issue. I am concerned about the avocado and jalapeno margaritas in particular and I thing these would suffer a quality issue by pre-mixing. Others might be fine.

I was hoping that would be the case for the African Margarita at Dawa. But alas, my friend & I both agreed that it was defitinely not the same as when they made it fresh. We also both agreed that this will be one to skip now.

But it's not a total loss because it allowed me to discover the frozen Yak Attack & flavored margarita at Quality Beverages (on the right side of Anandapur Local Food Cafes). :thumbsup2

I don't find premixed frozen drinks to be lacking in quality like ones on the rocks do. I don't think I'd want an avocado margarita premixed though..

We keep wine in the room to have at night (we have a car and buy it offsite).

We love the following drinks at WDW:

Lapu Lapu at the Polynesian Resort (at Kona Cafe)
Avocado margarita in Mexico (DH loves the blood orange margarita too)
Grey Goose Lemonade slush at the kiosk in France
Beer flight at Biergarten
Bellini at Via Napoli (DH likes their white sangria)
Piña colava at the pool bar at BWV (piña colada with raspberry, delicious)
Pomegranate splash which I had at Kouzzina but I've seen it on other drink menus as well

I'm looking forward to being able to have wine in MK at the Be Our Guest dinner! :)

These are such great suggestions!

I so love how this thread has been. 19 pages and none of the usual DIS scolds!

I've done a couple of things... first I sent it in a well cushioned box. Found out afterwards you are not suppose to ship alcohol, haven't don't that again.

On one of our cruises my husband found "skins" they are clear packaging that are plastic soft sided containers that fit in nicely with the shampoo and the like bottles. They work really well and I'm not afraid of spillage. That's what I'm doing this next trip. I don't get intox but a drink after the park is very appreciated.

I felt compelled to reply when I saw many of my favorites on your list :rotfl:.
Pina Colava is one of my very favoritists (lol) on your list. More days then not I sit by the pool and stitch while my husband goes for a walk around (usually at VWL) and at 12pm he is turning the corner with his Long Island iced tea and my Pina Colava.
The bellini is an expensive but really nice treat.
The avocado margarita is awesome on a hot day and the blood orange one is great all of the time.

The holy s**t level....LOL, you can say that again!
