Getting your drink on in the most magical place on earth

Even if you're going to bring alcohol with you, don't miss out on some of the great drinks around the World. ;) Pick a few and try them out. You won't be disappointed.

I don't drink anymore, but dh takes cases of beer with us and uses his resort mug to carry them around. We use to have a ball (before kids) resort hopping with a drink at each resort. Each resort has a Happy Hour with different drink specials.

Ooh, is there a convenient place on the internet that lists all the happy hours on property by any chance? :)

There aren't many Happy Hours at Disney anymore. DTD has a couple but that's all I can think of. Universal on the other hand has a ton of them. ;)

My favorite happy hour is at the Hole in the Wall bar at DTD (outside Raglan Road). They have $2 off draft beer and some wine specials every day from 3-6. We have spent many (probably too many) afternoons just hanging out there and meeting some really interesting people. I think House of Blues also has a happy hour with drink specials and apps specials. I have never seen a happy hour at any of the resorts?

I used to bring beer (and still do when we stay at Fort Wilderness), but now I stick to alcohol (easier to transport). I live locally so I typically bring my own....at least a bottle of rum and a bottle of Fireball.

If you can get off-site to purchase your libations, then do so.

Drinking around the world is worth it at least once.

Well that's convenient....we're staying at POR and will be hopping on the boat to DTD to catch buses to the other resorts for some ADRs. May have to make a pit stop before boarding!

What's the policy for walking around with drinks? Obviously not in MK, but what about HS or EP? I'm guessing the resorts are ok with it.

Yes, you can walk around DHS, AK, Epcot, DTD, and resorts with drinks.

Two suggestions if you buy a cocktail onsite:

Epcot, American Experience, Fife & Drum: Red Stag Lemonade w/Jim Beam(OMG)

Any resort with a lounge: The Antioxidant Cocktail....it doesn't sound good but take it from me...it IS good!:thumbsup2

There is a Wal Mart about 5 min from Downtown Disney that is where I used to go get my beer. I no longer drink so I don't need it now but that was the best place for it and price for it.

A bottle of wine at the gift shop won't cost you a whole lot more than at the liquor store. There's more of a markup on hard liquor, but again, not as much as you might expect. They kill you on beer though. I have mine delivered by Wegoshop.

When you are there you have to stop in Germany for a tall Octoberfest with a very salty pretzel ... I am counting the days until May :thumbsup2

Whole Foods in Orlando also delivers to the resorts. More of a markup there but better beer selection than from the other places.

Great Thread. However, someone noted "heavy pour"....hmmmmm. I've yet to see a heavy pour. Care to share where that was?:scratchin

I am happy to say that I fully intend to get drunk a night or two during our vacation, maybe even an afternoon or two.

But hey, to each their own.

A couple tips:

No need to smuggle. You can bring it in your luggage without a problem, WDW doesn't mind if you bring booze to your room.

You can also do what we do, order booze to be delivered through garden grocer. We typically get a couple cases of beer, couple bottles of wine, and maybe a hard bottle delivered.

Alternatively, you can buy a 40oz bottle of vodka in Norway in Epcot for $20. That's the best deal on booze in Disney, otherwise yes drink prices are pretty pricey and if you go to the Disney stores and try to buy, prices are insane.

Hope this helps, enjoy your drinks responsibly, but not too responsibly :)

Let's get back to the Norway thing. You can buy vodka there??
What other countries do that?

We had grapefruit and vodka at the Gurgling Suitcase at OKW in December and it was a HEAVY pour!
