Getting to Wilderness Lodge from Offsite on XMAS Day

This seems like more of a transportation question rather than a resort question, so hopefully someone here can help.

We're planning on lunch at Wilderness Lodge on XMAS day at 1:00. We're staying off-site so we'll be driving there, and I'm concerned that we'll have trouble getting there because it's in the Magic Kingdom area, and I've heard that they end up closing to off-site traffic. In looking at the Disney transportation guide/map, it looks like we basically have to go through the Magic Kingdom toll plaza to get to Wilderness Lodge. Is this correct? Is there some other way, like a back way to get to Wilderness Lodge?

There is another route to WL that will bypass the main MK toll plaza. However, you'll still need to pass a security station.

Drive North on Bonnet Creek Parkway past PO until you get to the end. Take a left on Vista Boulevard; you'll soon come to the security station. Merge right onto World Drive. Take a right at the next light; follow signs to WL.

If you have a PS at WL, they should let you through whatever route you take. You may wish to confirm this with Disney dining.

Lew - Thanks. I can see that on the map/guide now that you point it out. I just want to avoid the World Drive Magic Kingdom entrance on XMAS day because I seem to recall reading about people being stuck in 2 hour traffic jams last year, and that's definitely not how I want to spend my XMAS day!

When we were there in Sept., didn't seem like the security post was manned; does anyone know if it has been closed permanently?

Drove by two days ago and the security station is completely gone.

You will be able to get through the toll plaza and security, but you WILL need a priority seating confirmation number in order to do so. You will be given a 3hr parking pass.
