Getting to WDW from Port of Miami

I am assuming the best way to get to WDW after our cruise (not DCL) from the Port of Miami is to rent a car? Are there rental car companies close to the port with shuttles or do we need to take a taxi/Uber. I know I will have to rent from somewhere like Alamo so we can drop off at Disney's Car Care Centre. Any tips/advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I know Budget has a port shuttle, not sure about Alamo. Budget has a location near WDW at the Wyndham Orlando, about a mile from WDW. Not sure if they have a shuttle or if you would need an Uber after drop off.

Another option would be to take the Brightline train from Miami to MCO, if you didn’t want to drive. The Miami train station is close to the port, so an Uber/Lyft or taxi could get you there, and there are options at MCO to get to WDW.

There is an Alamo near MIA and one at Miami Beach, but I am not aware of any close to the port. There are several rental companies closer to the port, many with complimentary shuttles. Perhaps another option would be to find a company with a location close to the port that has a drop location close to WDW and use Uber/Lyft from there to Disney.

Depending on when you are travelling you could fly. Delta and American look like they have direct flights with tickets under $100 from MIA to MCO, unless you are travelling near a holiday.

Our cruise isn't until next August so still a long way off to plan.

A car would be under $200 and you would be there in 4 hours and less hassle than the airport.

Look at Kayak website to see options among lots of companies.

An example of what I found when I tried Miami Beach > Lake Buena Vista, one way. This was just one car of many from one company among many.

You wouldn’t have to book through Kayak. But you’d have an idea of options.

This example would require a rideshare or taxi to the car rental offices.

It might just be easier to go to the websites of the companies represented at the WDW Car Care Center.

I do like the Brightline train (at least between Miami and Fort Lauderdale). If it interests you, sign up for emails of special prices. Unlike flying (arrive early, go through TSA…), travel on Brightline is very low-key.

We have traveled from Miami to WDW following cruises multiple times, renting cars at the car rental center that serves MIA. We’ve rented from both National and Alamo at this location, dropping off at the Dolphin hotel (where the Alamo/National desk is now closed) or at MCO depending on our WDW plans for using the rental car. Sometimes the car rental price was attractive enough to just keep the car for the entire resort stay and do an airport drop off at the end. The Disney Car Care Center would also be an option for drop off if one just needed the car to get from Miami to WDW. Although Alamo/National had a shuttle from the port to the MIA car rental center, we chose to use Lyft or taxis instead. It typically cost $25 to $35 including gratuity at the time, but our last such trip was pre-Covid in January 2020, so I would anticipate some price increase there. Car rentals have also increased in price, but it’s hard for me to see how train or plane options might be less expensive than renting a car. For two or more travelers, a one-day car rental with gas and tolls probably costs the same or less than the best rate for a single traveler using Brightline or flying from MIA to MCO. Also, using either of those options, there is still the cost of transport from port to train or plane at the Miami end and from MCO (since the train terminates there) to WDW.
