Getting to the park

hello! I am flying in dec 9 with my husband (first trip with just us, no kids). We fly in and land at 6:35 at Burbank airport. I am planning on going to get the rental car while my husband gets the luggage and then I’ll pick him up in front. My one goal is to see fireworks that night. They start at 9:30. How likely do you think it is that we will be able to drive to castle inn, dump our luggage in the room and get to Main Street in time?

They are open until midnight but I want to be there for fireworks at 930.

OK, I'll ask...why Burbank?...that is an awful option for DL especially at 6:30pm.

That is gonna be a tough one to make at 9:30...a LOT will have to go right to make that timeline but traffic will be the biggest crutch in your plans.

That we can do. We are pretty good with that. My husband says there is no way we will make it but I think we have a good shot!

It was a lot cheaper from our home airport for a direct flight. Couldn’t get direct to sna at all, couldn’t get it for lgb either. LAX was more expensive and put us arriving a few hours later.[/QUOTE]

I’m hoping also that it being a Saturday makes it a bit less traffic. I know la traffic is always bad but hoping for some luck.

Hmmm, that'll be tight. If I were you, I think I'd call Castle Inn and ask them if there's a way you can wait and check in after midnight or if they can guarantee your room will be held for you some way, maybe pay by credit card over the phone? If they will I'd skip checking in and just head to DL. Just be sure that all your luggage can be stowed out of sight in your rental car.

I don't think you'll make that to be honest. You might just make it, but traffic down there from Burbank even on a Saturday could be really bad. 2 hours. Then counting the time to get off the plane, get the rental car, get baggage, get to the hotel and check in? I don't know.
