Getting to the Boardwalk

I have a similar question. Was planning on going to the Boardwalk for dinner, and we do have reservations. We are staying off property so we will need to drive our cars. Will we have any issues? Can we arrive earlier than our reservation?

Also, we are AP holders so, to avoid paying for valet parking, should we park at Epcot and just walk over?

Park at DHS.
You can walk.
Or, if you're there during a time when DHS is open, you can take the Friendship boat
between DHS and Boardwalk.

1. Unlikely, but you just never know. Things change quickly at WDW.
2. If they will allow you to park there, you can arrive early (within reason.)

How much earlier? Parking for dining reservations is usually 3 hours so a little before dinner would be fine. If you're planning to go to Epcot or DHS, park at the park's lot and drive over to the BW at dinnertime.

If you're finished with dinner before Epcot closes for the evening you'll be able to re-enter the park to walk to the parking lot. Otherwise, it would be better to park at DHS because there is a walking path from the BW to DHS or the Friendship boat if DHS is still open.

guess Ill chime in on this: we will be coming from MK to dinner on the Boardwalk- there is no parking there? Looked at the Robo map and it is hard to tell how far of a walk it is from HS back to Boardwalk (Trattoria al Forno) for dinner...we will have a car, and are staying at Pop...bite the bullet and take the bus to MK, then is there a bus to the Boardwalk? and then how get back to Pop after dinner???

1. There is parking there, if not full. (Much [most] of the time it is not full.)
2. The Boardwalk parking is not exactly "close," but it is closer than the DHS lot.
You could take the BOAT from the DHS lot.
3. There are buses from MK to all the resorts, except those in the immediate MK area (Boardwalk is a resort, after all.)
But, when you were to RETURN to MK, you'd have to get back to TTC/MK parking lot from the MK bus area... that would be by monorail or ferry boat.
4. Depends on how late you are dining in relation to how late the theme parks are open (if you decide to park at MK or DHS.)

I had all of these questions in December, scoured the boards for answers. We had a reservation at Cape May, but we also then wanted to go to Epcot, weren't sure about leaving or moving the car. Got lots of advice, but it was giving me agita trying to figure it out. In the end, we took Uber to Beach Club (across from Boardwalk, so same difference). It cost maybe $6 and took no time at all.

Is parking at THE Boardwalk (area) the same parking as at the Boardwalk Resort? or separate? Our dinner is not inside the resort hotel, but 'on' the Boardwalk...I guess if there is usually parking it'd be ok to drive and park there. I do like the concept of not dealing with MK (TTC) parking by using a bus. Maybe we can park at the Boardwalk (area) then take a bus to MK, bus back after MK for our 630 dinner. Then drive back to Pop after dinner.

1. There are two lots near Boardwalk.

2. That would generally be frowned-on.
Could you do it? Probably.

Sorry, it's all "hotel" parking. There's only 1 bar and 1 shop inside the Boardwalk hotel. All other dining / happens to be outside entry like an outdoor mall.

It's ok to free park (if there's availability) while you shop/dine at that hotel.

It's only OK to valet park at a visiting hotel and leave your car and go to a park.

Parking for Boardwalk dining is the same as the resort. The Boardwalk restaurants are actually part of the resort.

You should not park there to go to Magic Kingdom and back, even if dining there later.

I would just like to say that Uber is so readily available and inexpensive I would plan on that and maybe enjoy a cocktail or two with dinner.

Bus to MK. Bus to Boardwalk. Uber back to Pop.

Most Uber rides around WDW are $5-8.
