I'm looking at the Dream's deck plan (the one here: http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/cruise/deck-plans.htm) and I can't figure out how to access the entrance of the AquaDuck from the aft elevators. It looks like Remy and Palo flank both sides of the aft elevators. Is the gray shaded area in front of Waves Bar one big open walkable area that you can use to access the AquaDuck? If not then do you have to cut through through either Remy or Palo, which I'm assuming is not appreciated by either staff or guests? How do you easily access the AquaDuck from the aft elevators of the Dream? Or do you just have to get to it from the mid-ship elevators via another deck/floor?

This deck plan is a little confusing. The easiest way to explain is to just go to the pool deck. There is a set of stairs from the pool deck straight up to the Aquaduck. Not a bad climb, only about 12-15 steps. Hope this helps.

.... Not a bad climb, only about 12-15 steps....

:lmao: Not sure if you had a secret elevator access point, but ....
I would gander the # of steps from the deck, the one above the pool deck, where the line truly begins, deck 12, to eventually get to the AquaDuck, is more like 35 -45.

There is 20 - 30 ~ steps once "inside" the stair case at the top, after the other 40 ~. lol. DCL definitively failed in the ADA department here.

And those steps, as reported depending on season can get hot. Yet, often you can't wear shoes, WT... Oh, and the wind, lol. Leave hats, glasses, loose clothing, and anything else that may be blown of your body, elsewhere. The rules aren't in place for the ride, they are in place for the ascent. :rotfl2: seriously

Enjoy

When I read this, I thought of my very first attempt at climbing the Statue of Liberty. Took the elevator up to the pedestal, looked up at the long, winding, horrendously narrow and crowded stairs, and thought...what the...??? The French played some cruel joke on us. :lmao:

And I thought of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDmkhhJWKU8

Thanks for the tips and heads up, all! :)

My Bad ....

OK, I now see this poster is referring to the stairs from the pool deck that lead up to the deck where the entrance to the AD is located.

I concur it is 12- 15 stairs. That gets you to deck 12 that allows you to stand in line after the height, weight, passport, sex, clothing check, loose tattoos, first born check, contacts, that MAY allow you to continue to stand in line.
:sad2:

And ascend the other stairs that go vertical for at least two decks. In fact, I'll gander, ... It's a two deck ascent outside, then the passage way enters a protected/confined area, which travels another deck level.

Need less to say it can be a venture, journey, or potentially a nightmare from reports, so tread accordingly.

It also seems to vary according to the active CM. So if you are unsatisfied with the results, return later for a potentially more favorable outcome.

Also fwiw the more weight, the faster you travel on the AD.

If winds reach 45 ~ mph they may only allow dual riders.
Once winds reach 50~ mph they close AD.

Keep this in mind, with the weather for cast. Some have been caught of guard delaying their AD ride, then it wasn't possible later in the sailing.

AD, upper deck, outer decks, etc. are cancelled/closed when electrical storms, heavy winds, heavy seas occur. Plan accordingly. Stay flexible.

Also according to the deck plan, the aft elevators don't go up to the 13th deck/Goofy's Sports Deck, correct? It stops at deck 12 outside Remy and Palo? So for the lazy bums, we can't take the aft elevators to Goofy's Sports Deck and descend down to access AquaDuck?

The dual rider thing is also regardless of weight, which IMHO doesn't make sense, so example two kids who probably weigh less than 100 each but are tall enough to ride can ride together in high winds but then you see adults or older kids who are clearly over 200 each have to ride together, saw people getting paired up...

Well this time it's DCL. I'll go out on a limb and say folks in the AD line have felt the same. lol.

We had a unique sailing, and perhaps now they will close the AD earlier, given conditions and pax experiences.

You could barely stand on the stairs. Not due to the sea state, You had to hold onto the staircase railing or you would be blown away/ down. Pax were in fact moved, yet thankfully supported by those directly behind them in line two steps below them. It was amazing. We all felt for the last in line. lol.
You ask winds, 45- 60 mph min.

Perhaps now folks know why the AD was closed. It's the wind on the stairs IMO.

20% of pax that reached 155 feet, 80 % to the pinnacle, retreated, :lmao: , understandable., during our unique sea state. Most had little ones who respectably felt venerable on the stairs, and had to retreat.
I'll add once "inside" the staircase for the AD the wind can make the most unusual sounds.

Ravenne;
At night, traversing the stairs to AD could easily remind you of the SoL ironically.

Enjoy
