All these years and we have never really tried to make a rope drop. Usually get to parks about 9:30. Anyway, we will be at POFQ the first week in February and might try to make a couple of rope drops. Want to try SB for Soaring and TSM. How early do we need to be at the bus stop? What are the chances we wouldn't get on the first bus and have to wait for a second?

During my June visit, ds13 and I would leave our room at 7:45 and we never arrived at any park past 8:15 for a 9am rope drop. But they always let everyone in at 8:45....

We always allow one hour also if using the buses. And we have had it take over an hour to get to a park before. Not from POFQ though and that was only once.

And yes, the pp is right. They typically let guests in a bit earlier than the scheduled opening time...usually 10-15 mins before...though once we got in at DHS at 8:25 for a 9:00 opening.

Get to your bus stop by 7:45 for a 9am opening. Of course there's always a chance that you may have to wait for a second bus, depending on where everyone happens to be heading that day.

Head to Soarin first. Try to be near the front of the pack and walk briskly. If the wait is already quite long at Test Track once you get there (after riding Soarin), use the single riders line (unless you have young children).

I agree with the previous posters, one hour minimum, 1 hour 15 minutes preferred, to get near the front of the pack at the gates. We were at Epcot on Sept 28th. We exited bag check at 8:20 (from off site) and were about 5 groups from the gate. They opened the gate at ~8:40 and then held us at the walkway through Innoventions. They dropped that rope at approx 8:50 and we walked right up to the welcome video at Soarin'. Rope drop is worth the effort!

For Soarin', REALLY early.
As in 7:45AM... January 3...

(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Soarin will be closed in February.

Yup, beginning Jan. 4.
