Getting to restaurants

Ok, silly question, but one I need answered for my peace of mind (and to get FIL off my back). We have reservations at WCC and O'Hana for our coming trip. What is the best way to get there? I was thinking we would take a bus from resort to Magic Kingdom and then grab the monorail or the boat to Wilderness Lodge and Polynesian ... but I don't actually know where to go to get those things. On our last trip, I saw the boat launch at Magic Kingdom near the bus drop off ... is that where you get the boat to WL? I'm sorry if this sounds stupid, but FIL asked me tonight how exactly we get to the boat and the monorail and I couldn't answer ... and he got annoyed, so now I'm annoyed.

Thanks!

It all depends on where you're coming from. If you're coming from your resort, then yes, the Magic Kingdom is a good transportation hub for those resorts. From the Magic Kingdom...

To Whispering Canyon: You can take a boat launch, or you can take a bus. Wildnerness Lodge has both options.

To 'Ohana: You can take a boat launch or the resort monorail.

If you are coming from the other theme parks or Downtown Disney, there are buses to Wilderness Lodge. For all parks except Epcot, there's a bus to the Polynesian. From Epcot, you'd take the monorail to the TTC and either walk or take the resort monorail. I find it quicker just to walk to the Polynesian, but if members of your party have mobility issues, take the resort monorail.

Yes the boat is kind of opposite the entry to MK. For the monorail, you would walk past the MK entrance. The monorail ramps will be on the right. There are big signs; you won't get lost.

Wow, I completely blanked over that part of the question! D'oh! :headache:
Good answer.

Since there's a HUGE body of water to the left as you're walking away from the MK bus depot, and there's a monorail line overhead that you can see, it's almost impossible to get lost trying to find where to get on a boat or monorail. As you said, the signs for the boats and monorails are well marked.

I think the original poster won't need to worry. ;)

Yeah, don't let your FIL get under your skin about this -- it is totally easy and straightforward to get to those resorts, as others have explained, either from the MK or otherwise.

We also sometimes just jump into taxi cabs, which is another easy peasy option. Don't know how many in your group, but if you can fit in one cab or in a van, I'd consider this. We budget for it (call it $15 with tip, although that's on the higher side but it depends on where you're staying of course) and considering that time really is money at WDW, it's worth it!

Taxis are an option if you are coming from a resort (unless it is a monorail resort). If you are already at the Magic Kingdom, you will not be able to pick up a taxi outside the park; the only place to get a taxi is TTC, or walk to the Contemporary and get one. If you're at MK and you are going to resorts so close to MK, you might as well use Disney transportation.

1 - monorail station
2 - GF/Polynesian launch dock
3 - WL/FW ferry dock
4 - Ferry to TTC dock
5 - Bus stop area (I think. If those are not the bus stops they are further down the path to the right)
