I couldn't find this question using the search function.

We are planning on making dinner ADRs for Chef Mickey's, Whispering Canyon and Yachtsman's Steakhouse (different nights of course). We are staying at CBR and will be using the Disney bus transportation to get us to the resort where our ressies will be (we know to take it to DTD to transfer to the resort bus that we need). How much time should we give before our ressies so that we make it there on time?

Yea, I know, this sounds more like a word problem you would find in a math book

Thanks.

To get to Chef Mickeys take the bus to Magic Kingdom and walk over to the Contemporary (or take the Monorail) wayyy faster than transfering at Downtown Disney

To get to Whispering Canyon - take the bus to Magic Kingdom and either the bus or boat to Wilderness Lodge (again much faster than Downtown)

To get to Yachtsman you can do the DD transfer, or take the bus to Hollywood Studios then either the boat or walk to the Yacht CLub. Hollywood Studios is pretty close to CBR.

I would allow at least an hour using these methods - CBR isnt far from HS and isnt too too far from MK so using the methods above it shouldnt take more than an hour, provided you get the bus to the resort from CBR relatively quickly.

An hour is what I was thinking, too. But wasn't too sure. For Chef Mickey's, taking the monorail is the best way to go as well. I just thought we had to take the bus to DTD then hop on the MK bus :confused3. It would be a straighter run to just take the MK bus from CBR.

Thanks for your help :)

An hour should be enough if everything runs smoothly. We plan an hour and a half because twice we had delays with traffic, not Disneys or our fault. There was an accident and the traffic backed up. Now we plan extra just in case.

Don't take the bus to DTD to go to Chef Mickey's. The bus to MK from CBR is much faster since you are only waiting on one bus. You can actually walk from MK to Chef Mickeys if you don't want to ride the monorail.

Going from CBR to DTD is 1 bus then the bus from DTD to MK is 2. You could end up waiting 20-30 minutes for each bus to show up plus your travel time. Way to long!

The bus service to DTD is know to be very slow. Not a good thing when you are trying to make and ADR. Don't try and use DTD as a transfer point when you are on a schedule.

I'm not sure why you are thinking taking a bus to DTD, then over to MK, then walking/monorailing to Chef Mickey's would be faster than just taking the bus to MK and then walking/monorailing over.:confused3

Originally, I had forgotten that we can take the MK bus from CBR and then hop on the monorail. I was so focused on DTD being the transfer hub for everything that I forgot we don't have to do that.

After reading about how much time to give, we'll take everyone's suggestion and give ourselves 90 minutes to get to our ADRs.

For Whispering Canyon take the bus to MK and then take the BOAT to Wilderness Lodge. The boat ride is a lot of fun.

Oh my. Unless you absolutely have to, do not use DTD as a bus hub. It takes forever, especially if Typhoon Lagoon is open.

There's lots of advice here but here are the things I would do.

Chef Mickeys: From CBR, take the bus to MK, walk to the Contemporary (I would walk, not take the monorail. Your mileage may vary. You may not want to walk or just like the monorail.)

Whispering Canyon: Take the bus to MK. From MK, take the direct bus to WL. this will be the fastest, most likely. Unless you have some time and you want a boat ride - if you really want a boat ride, take the boat from MK to WL.

Yachtsman Steakhouse - Take the bus to DHS. Then either walk or take the boat to the Yacht Club.

If you have active admission to Epcot, you can take the bus to Epcot, then walk through Epcot to the International Gateway. However, don't take the bus to Epcot in order to access the Epcot resorts if you don't have admission to the park. The DHS option will also save you walking if you take the boat. The boat takes 25 minutes to make a full run from DHS to Epcot, so it will take about 16-18 minutes to run to Yacht Club. This won't include any time you may have to spend waiting for the boat to arrive at the dock.

As far as returning to your resort from the restaurant, you can retrace your steps as long as the parks are still open and the transportation is running. If it's too late for any of that you will need to use DTD as a hub, but as noted I would only do that if it's really necessary, or if you want to go to DTD.

Always allow at least an hour for resort to resort transfers. If you want to make it safe and have time for resort exploring/boat rides, etc, make it an hour and a half.

I just thought we had to take the bus to DTD then hop on the MK bus

Going from CBR to DTD is 1 bus then the bus from DTD to MK is 2.

DTD has no buses to or from the parks; resorts only. If you are trying to get to the Contemporary from DTD, take the bus directly to the Contemporary. If you're trying to get to MK from DTD, take the bus to the Contemporary and walk.

As long as you're going when the parks are open, I would definitely suggest taking a bus from your resort to the first park that has a bus come. Downtown Disney buses are slow, come less often, and have to make two stops in DTD, so unless you're already in DTD I would say you're better off avoiding it.

Are you planning on visiting the parks at all?

You could plan your MK day either on the day you need to go to the Contemporary or on the day you need to go to Wilderness Lodge.

You could plan your Epcot day on the day you need to get to the Yacht Club.

This is what I often do to maximize my time - try to already be in the general vicinity of my ADR so as not to spend as much time on Disney transport.

Thanks everyone for the advice! We're doing Yachtsman's Steakhouse on a down time day, so we will be leaving from CBR. As far as the other ones go, we still need to figure out what days we will do them, but at least we now know how to get there.

One other question I have. I just booked the Garden View Tea Room for my mom and I at GF. What's the best way to get there for our 2:10 reservation?

Same as Chef Mickey's: take bus to MK, then hop on the monorail to GF.

Yes. We just figured out the days for each park last weekend. Now that the park days are figured out, I've been finalizing our dining options and times. So far I have three places booked. I still have three days that need to be determined as well as figuring out the times for the other places we want to eat at. I'm slowly getting there.

Totally agree with this strategy. Much less time riding around.
I try to avoid having to transfer whenever possible, you just never know how much it could delay your trip.

I would give yourself at least an hour to get from your resort to the restaurant. And for CM and WCC, don't go to Downtown Disney, go to MK and get to the resorts from there, and for YS, go to the Studios and take a boat or walk.

if were us would from CBR take the DTD bus to MK and then walk to Contemporary or take Monorail
to Whispering Canyons take the MK bus and then take the boat over to WL
for Yachstman take the HS bus and take the that boat over to Yachstclub

allow hour for each

Wow! You guys are terrific! Everyone has been so helpful. Thanks again!

I'll print out this thread so that DH and I can go over everything. Upon looking at our itinerary though, we may have to drop Whispering Canyon. I don't think we'll have time to go.

Yachtsman is a definate b/c my brother loves steak and is looking forward to going to a nice steakhouse. So we are making sure that stays.

Originally, we were planning on doing Chef Mickey's for dinner, but we may need to change that and do breakfast instead. I'm still looking over the itinerary to see if we need to change it or not. DS10 is ok with either one.

If things don't go exactly according to schedule, remember that you can always relax and call a taxi.

Have a wonderful visit.

That's true! We did that last time to get to Donald's Breakfastosauras over at AK (before it was discontinued).

OT: Is that your cat in your avatar picture? My mom has a harlequin cat as well. Her name is Timid and was given that name b/c she is very timid. She's 22 years old (I think, she was born in 1995).
