Hello! We are going to be staying at AoA 11/3-10, and then heading out on a cruise 11/10-15. What is our best/most time and cost effective way to get from our resort to Port Canaveral? :cool1:

(Note: We are not going on Disney Cruise, so Disney transportation not an option.)

Thought about taking Magical Express back to MCO, then shuttle to port. However, that seems like A LOT of shuffling around with two young kids, and would rather pay a bit more for something more convenient. Am thinking hiring a car service, but hoping someone may have some suggestions of a reliable, reasonably priced company, or some other means of transportation to get there.

TIA

A car service will run you between $160-200, not including tip. There are many good companies. Have you considered a rental car??? That may well be the least expensive way to go. Most have shuttles that can take you to your ship if you want to drop off the car, and then take you back to the office to rerent a car after the cruise.
I don't think your kids are all that young. If it had been an infant and a toddler, then it may have been too much shuffling around. But, I would seriously consider taking DME back to the airport, and then getting a shuttle to your ship..if the ship offers one.

I have done what you want to do. When I'm on vacation I don't want to drive, think about where I'm going or getting lost, or traffic. I used a car service to get to the port. There are many out there I use Tiffany Towncar when I need car service. It's the easiest quickest way to go. I didn't want to take a bus back to the airport, lug my luggage around and then transfer to another bus. It's not the cheapest way but it's the best.

Depending on how many of you there are -- (3 or more?)

You can get a one way rental from Budget from MCO to Port Canaveral for about $40. the one way return from Port Canaveral to MCO is about 60 for a economy.

Budget has a shuttle from their pickup drop off location to the boat for free!

So it cost us $100 round trip for for four of us.

if we had taken a bus -- it would have cost us $80 each, each way!

We used a town car company and it ran us about $125 for the 4 of us. Well worth it. We didn't have to drive and he dropped us off right where we needed to be.

I'm assuming that was one way??? Just want to be clear.

In mY last post, I said "about" because we used the towncar service for a 3 leg transport. I can't remember what each leg cost what, even though the owner was nice enough to break it down for me.

MCO to Universal
Universal to Port Canaveral
Port Canaveral to MCO

For all 3 total, the price was $295.

I was able to snag an ecenomy rental from Alamo for $59 Total, for our cruise/wdw stay next week. So driving to Port, then using Park-n-Cruise ($5.99/day). They have a shuttle to the ship. This way transport is costing under $100, plus we'll have the car while we are at WDW! Tried the 2 Budget one-way rentals, but couldn't get it cheaper than just keeping the car and parking it!
Hope this helps.

Two years ago, we did the opposite of what you did. We cruised first then spent a night at WDW. We arranged a shuttle with Mears which picked us up from the port and brought us to the airport where we boarded ME. It was a Thursday morning around 9am, so not much traffic and no wait at ME. From port to room, it took about 2 hours, maybe less. For you, you could take ME to the airport and then Mears shuttle is a few doors down from ME. You'd just have to get off the bus and drag your bags to the stop Mears picks you up at. Then they'll load you up and take you right to the port. It really wasn't bad, and saved us a ton of money.

How long are you at WDW? I looked at doing that, but it was going to be over $300 for the cheapest car- but we would need it 12 days, 7 at Disney, and then 5 for cruise.

Budget one ways are running about the same.

Getting quotes in the $250 range for Town Car service, which seems like less hassle.

Anyone that has used Town Car service, what company did you use?

We are on a 3 day cruise, so only 5 day rental. Just keep checking rates...I became obsessed. Our deal I did find thru carrentalsavers .
