Hi Everyone! We are going to take my nieces to Newport Beach on Saturday afternoon. I remember seeing a thread where someone said you could just stay on Harbor and it takes you all the way to Newport Beach!

But my question is, is it faster to get on I-5 to get there? I am in LA a lot on business, so while I'm no SoCal driving pro, I can hold my own in the madness! :rotfl:

I'd love some advice on how to get there.

Thanks!!

Harbor does go all the way down to Newport Beach, the 5 might be faster but it all depends on the traffic.

hi there, we went to newport in september...it was a really easy drive on harbour boulevard, about 35 min... i have no idea about the freeway as i have a dh who refuses to drive it ;) ...i will say it was a nice relaxing, short drive on harbour and newport was awesome

We usually take the 5 to 55 and it ends in Newport. I think it becomes Newport Blvd. You'll have to make right turn on, 21st (I think) to get to the pier, but you can't miss it once you get there. You'll see where you have to turn. Since you are going on a weekend, make sure to go early if you can or you could end up parking far away and walking or driving around forever looking for a spot! There are shops to check out and Charlies Chili is yummy for a bite to eat. Very good breakfast too if you do go early.

If it's a Saturday afternoon, I would take the freeway (5 freeway south to 55 freeway south). The drive down Harbor Blvd. isn't very, well, scenic, and the freeway will just get you there more quickly. Plus, traffic shouldn't be as bad - it will probably be the worst where the 55 ends and becomes Newport Blvd. Have fun!

Thanks everyone for the advice! :worship:

And thanks times two for the map Mary Jo!! BTW, I'm really hoping to run into you while you are there for the girls only trip! It would be great to meet the famous Mary Jo!!!

I'll be on the look out for a group of wild women! And I will definitely join you all on the next ladies only trip.

But for now I can't wait to see the look on my nieces' faces when they experience the Magic of Disneyland for the first time!! :cloud9:
