I just booked what we think will be an awesome behind-the-scene tour to finish off our 2 week vacation in November (did the keys-to-the-kingdom last time early on and hubby was "sad") The lovely CM who helped me book it gave me what i know isn't "kosher" advice on how to get to the gates in time. And i QUOTE "Go to the Contemporary and tell the guard you are going on a tour and they'll let you park there" SERIOUSLY??? what is the PROPER way to do this?? I know that parking is at a premium for resort guests so there is NO WAY I'm leaving the car there!!

We will be driving since hubby doesn't like to take Disney transportation from our resort just as a head's up. I KNOW we will need to get to the gate BEFORE the monorail is running due to the current schedule. SO what are our options?? I "think" i read that there is a bus from the TTC right now?? (that cracks me up since the public transit system in the closest city to us is called the TTC --Toronto Transit Commission :lmao: )

I have to do this as well in Dec, if we keep our plans to do the tour that is! (Considering cancelling until next trip as HM ride is scheduled to be down then and going behind the scenes there is supposed to be part of the tour. Called and they don't know if any other ride will be substituted, and if it is, it won't be known or decided until shortly before).

As for your question(sorry got distracted, lol), I did read in another thread here that buses start with one at approx 6:30 a.m. Guess that doesn't help if you wanna drive over yourselves, though. There is also the possibility of taking a cab, as well. I will be interested to hear other suggestions!

Great suggestions! BUT we want to drive our own car ... taking a cab ,while convenient, means doing it again to get back to resort since hubby and "public" transportation (Disney or otherwise!) simply do not mix :rolleyes1 I know most people frown on driving to MK, but trust me, it is sooo much better than dealing with his aversion to buses!!

I think parking @ CR for early tours is pretty much SOP. I did the same for a steam train tour a few years ago. They directed us to a small lot to the right of the entrance along the road.

But that was at 6:45; yours is at 7:45. The Resort Monorail normally starts at 7. If they are still on the reduced schedule when you visit, buses or boats to replace the monorail will also start at 7. Check with Transportation cm's at TTC to find out what's running.

You could park at the TTC and walk next door to the Poly and grab transportation to MK from there as long as the monorail (?) or boats are running. If you absolutely don't want any form of Disney transportation, drive to the Contemporary and pay to valet park (if you're not sure about the guard letting you use the self park lot).

Thank you, thank you!!! And that is from the sublime to the ridiculous ... when i say we don't want to use Disney transportation i meant the bus from the resort. The ferry or the monorail are part of the excitement!! He gets giddy using the tram thingee in the Orlando airport :lmao: I was just concerned with the reduced schedule on the monorail and how that would affect things :thumbsup2 Didn't mean to come off as "snobs" :snooty: , in fact i rely on public transit as my sole method of getting around. Can't explain it really, he just likes to be able to decide when to come & go. Me, i just sit in the passenger seat calling out directions .... my goodness Disney excels at making road signs disappearing just BEFORE the turn:eek:
