We have tickets for the Steam Train Tour and were told to get to the MK by 7:15AM that morning. The park doesn't open until 9 and I know buses don't start until an hour before? We'll be at the Poly. I know a cab is an option, has anyone taken this tour and had success with early morning transportation?

Thanks!

Buses start at around 6:30a actually, that one hour before thing is an oft-perpetuated myth.

Still, you may want to consider a can in this instance just to be safe.

Just a thought - wouldn't the monorail be faster? Or is that the one that's been taken out of service for maintenance? :confused3

The hours for the monorail work are reported to be 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Both the express and resort loops will be affected.

Yeah, that might work. I completely missed the Poly reference--duh! Monorails will not be impacted at that time of day.

I would ask at the concierge to be sure, but the boat should be running. We took that same tour on our Wilderness Lodge trip and had no problem taking a boat over.

Just for peace of mind, you could always take a cab like MesaBoy suggested. From the Poly to MK shouldn't be more than $10 including tip.

Thanks all! I didn't even think the monorail would be running that early! We will ask the concierge when we get there and call a car if we aren't comfortable with the answer but it doesn't sound like it will be as difficult as I thought!

I appreciate the help!

Operating hours of the buses, monorails and boats vary from one day to another according to the Magic Kingdom opening hour. So it may work for some people, but not for you. The first thing to do is to ask at the Polynesian concierge about the operating hours of these transportation system on the specific day of your tour.

Otherwise, you basically have two options: to take a cab or to walk from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian, than to the Magic Kingdom. I never did it, but I guess that 25-30 minutes is a good estimate of the length of a such walk.

Sorry, but, virtually all of the above info is simply incorrect.

Just take the resort monorail from the Poly to MK.

Keep in mind that if you take a cab to the MK, it drops you off at the TTC. You should ask to go to the contemporary.

Please.

Just take the monorail to the MK.

Please. You'll enjoy it!!

Good luck with that.

Good luck with that.

I heard they are finally going to build a bridge to complete that walk from the GF to MK. :rolleyes1 But then I thought FP- was the greatest thing since sliced bread...so take that for what it's worth.

Sorry to everyone!!!

As I wrote, I never did the Polynesian-GF-MK walk and, following your replies and a quick look at Google satellite, I realize that I am not going to do it soon! I had the wrong impression that a trail allows to walk from the GF to the MK, but that is inaccurate.

No need to apologize. We all thought they would have completed that path. They took my money for a brick, and then put it on the road to nowhere. ;)
