We are staying onsite at Disney World for a week in February. But we promised our kids that we would go to LEGOLAND for one day. I did not realize how far LEGOLAND is from Orlando. We are trying to find the best option. We stayed in the Disney bubble for a week last year and love it. We never felt the need for a rental car. This is what I have explored so far:

1. Rent a car for the whole week. Of course this seems like a waste of money.

2. Rent a car for 2 days. The problem here is getting the car. We would take up part of our day to go get the car from the airport or spend almost as much as option # 1 to have the car delivered to us.

3. Take the LegoLand bus from Orlando. I found the bus service on the LEGOLAND web site for $5/person. It is unclear whether the service even runs during the winter months and we would still need to get to Universal Drive to get on the bus.

Does anybody have any suggestions or experience with better options? Any help would be appreciated.

I would rent a car for a day. I would not want to be captive to a bus schedule.

You don't have to go to the airport to rent a car, you can rent one right on Disney property.

Yeah just rent the car for the day,the drive isn't too bad I've made it from the Legoland parking lot to the World dr. exit at Disney in 35-40 minutes.

Here is what you might wish to do,

As you have have done Disney for a week some time ago now would be a goood time to explore

Hire a car for 2 days

One day for Legoland & another day for visiting Midway Airboats at

Christmas on Hyw 50 & pay a visit to a replica of a fort At Fort Christmas.

Legoland a choice of 2 ways

A ... drive to wards Animal Kingdom and onto Sherbeth Rd to Hyw 192

West to join Hwy 27 South & stay on Hwy 27 till you see the signs for

Legoland on your Left

B ..... Drive onto I 4 towards Tampa Then turn off and

onto Hwy 27 South.

To go to Christmas go onto Hyw leading to MCO airport BUT stay on

And take turn off for Kennedy Space Center Then take turn off to join Hwy 50

Then you still have days left for Disney

Thanks for the suggestions. We ended up renting a car for a day from Alamo onsite. The rates are double, but since the car care center opens and shuttle starts at 6AM we can rent the car for only one day and can return it that night or the next morning (if needed and we want to get up that early:').

Sunnywho, thanks for the suggestion but we want to go to LEGOLAND at the end of our vacation.

Now the next milestone is making our fastpasses.

:yay:

I see you already rented a car but I was just going to say, we took the shuttle and it wasn't bad. Cheaper than renting a car and it was a comfy ride with hardly anyone on the bus. The bus is there from open to close so you are basically captive to the schedule but we just used the extra half hour or so to look at shops and have some more of Granny's Apple Fries. :)

This is what we did 2 years ago and it couldn't have been easier. Just call a day or 2 in advance. The shuttle has set times that it gets to each resort, just FYI so they will give you a couple of options of when to get picked up (It's not a "I want you to pick me up at this time" kind of thing).

What I did, was I got up early and went to get the rental car, leaving everyone else to sleep a little longer. Everyone was fed and dressed by the time I returned.

Then we all dropped the car off together and took the shuttle back to the resort.
