Hi newmouse2008 and everyone else too.
I too am more of a lurker, but I post occassionally. My name is Brandy and my middle name is Lou-so no surprises there. I went to Disney as a kid, but became an addict as an adult. Luckily, my dear husband is also hooked. He still asks me why in the world we went to Jamaica instead of WDW back in 2006. And the kids--they've been brainwashed since birth. (We have 2 girls, Lorelei is 5 and Katia is almost 2). We live in the Fox Valley (Wisconsin) and only get to Orlando about once a year right now.
We finally bought ito DVC in 2007 (should have done it much sooner). It was a reward to my husband from himself for quitting smoking. He is still a non-smoker (almost 2 yrs now). I like to tell him that if he does start smoking again he can't come to WDW with us.
I think I found the boards in or around 2006 and the podcast shortly thereafter. Now I amaze my local Disney friends with all the knowledge I gleam from the boards (ahem). Seriously, I have shown them the site, sent them links, but apparently they don't visit as faithfully as I do. They just call me and ask "What deals does Disney have going right now?" or "How far out can we book dinner?" At least those people don't make fun of my little obsession. But when I hear our 5 yr old going on & on about Disney I realize that maybe we are abit, umm, abnormal.
The podcasts get me through tough days at work (take my mind elsewhere), Saturday mornings of cleaning my house & car trips "up Nort" to grandma's house.
I have also gotten so many great ideas, not only about vacation planning, but about making Mickey head Christmas ornaments, budget/safe cleaning products, and countless other things.
