Hi Dee:wave: We were at WDW in 2004, who knows, we may even have met your DS then! I do remember that the CM who signed my DD's passports in UK in Epcot was called Laura, I remember this because when chatting it turned out she also came from Dorset! "Its A Small World!!!" :rotfl2:

Karen - we made it out to WDW twice while our son was there. It will be very strange when we go next time not to have him in the UK pavillion to say hello too.

Ware Bears - he came home in Sept. 2004. If you came across him you might remember him because he has quite a strong welsh accent. I'll have to ask him if he knew a Laura from Dorset when I see him next

Just thought I'd bump this thread up, in case some of our new members would like to introduce themselves. :)

Good idea Becky!! We must ask Karen to make it into a sticky when she gets back!

::MinnieMo Hi All

My name is Angela (33)

I'm a recent member to the list , I was directed to it by Simon's book and am now a convert.

I stay near in a village called East Calder , nearest town:Livingston, nearest city:Edinburgh with my :lovestruc DH-Kenny and princess: DD -Jessica(almost 3).

I work part-time, 3 days per week in Clinical Trials and spend the rest of my time adoring my daughter :cutie: and reliving my childhood.

Kenny and I visited WDW in 2000 as I wouldn't get married until I'd been :earsgirl: :earsboy: and prior to that I had been to 'Eurodisney' as it was with my cousin , godson (both 8)and Mum about 11 years ago. It freaks me out they are now both old enough to drive. :rotfl2:

We are off to Sequioa lodge from 20-24th Sep and I can hardly wait. :cloud9:

I love picking up on tips and have already become a shareholder as i'm sure I'll be back after this visit. I promise an update on my return. :grouphug:

Angela

Nice to "see" you Angela!

It's great to find out more about people and Becky is quite right in that a lot of new people have joined up since we did this thread. Good idea to make it a sticky too diberry!

Angela - we do love a trip report on this board so we'll look forward to yours!!

OK so here is my DLRP CV! :teeth:

My name is Marcus I'm 26 years old, and I'm working like Disneyangel in the Clinical Trials business. :Pinkbounc

I have been 9 times to DLRP and not yet in any other Disneypark. I would like to see WDW in the next years but nothing is planned now. I'm not sure if I want to see DL. It looks so "small" and it is surrounded by streets and the city. And for me one of the most important things when I visit DLRP is, that I can forget the world outside while I'm in the resort. And I'm not sure if I can get this feeling at DL? :confused3

Here are my 9 trips to DLRP:
Aug 1994 Santa Fee with my dad and brother
Aug. 1995 Cheyenne with mom, dad and brother
October 2000 Sequoia Lodge with my dad
September 2001 NPBC with my boyfriend
June 2002 Santa Fee with BF
June 2003 NPBC with BY
31. Dec. 2003- 2. Jan.2004 NPBC with BF
September 2004 Disneyland Hotel with BF :cloud9:
May 2005 Disneyland Hotel with BF

The most perfect one was the trip in September 2004 at the DLH. The hotel is a dream. This was one of my biggest dreams, and it came true. For me the DLH is the only Disney hotel with a real Disney-magical-feeling! After the trip in September we saved all the money we had, and so we could afford a second stay at this dream-hotel. (Don't get me wrong: I do love all Disney Hotels, but I have never been in the Hotel New York, maybe next year!)

If I go to DLRP I want to stay at one of the Disney Hotels. I can't imagine leaving the resort in the evening. I want to stay on site! :wizard:

And in 2003 I was the first time at a “real” restaurant. Until then I only ate at the fast food ones to save money. But if I should give someone an advice it would be: Eat as much as you can for breakfast, and than take the next meal in the evening at one of the restaurants! You can get a wonderful menu for 25€. This means 3 courses and so everybody in the family will be full and happy! And additionally you are in very lovely themed restaurants. My favourites are Walt's, Blue Lagoon, Inventions, Auberge de Cendrillon and Plaza Gardens! :jumping2:

Our next trip is planned for October. Sequoia Lodge! I'm looking forward. :thewave:

Hello Marcus - good to know more about you!! You've really been a lot to DLRP!! We only "discovered" it last year but we love it too. I've just come back from DL (Cal) and I just wanted to say that if you ever get the chance, do go! Although, as you say it's in a built up area, even before you get to the bag check area you are surrounded by Disney music and once through the gates it's just as magical as all Disney parks - we loved it! However WDW is and always will be our absolute favourite simply because it's so big with 4 parks and the water parks and Downtown and set in such beautiful surroundings.

Hi there! I just joined this board recently and thought this was an ideal time to say hello!
I'm Rachel, and I live in Cheshire. I'm 21-years-old and a trainee dental nurse, aspiring writer and total child at heart.
I've been a lover of Disney since I was a little girl -- instilled in me by my Disney-obsessed mother!
I first went to DLP with my family when I was 9 (when it was Eurodisney and Festival Disney) and have nothing but fond memories. We finally returned two years ago and I had such a good time, I think I was planning our next trip on the bus to the airport!
We came back from a 6-day stay at DLP about 4 weeks ago, and we're already planning for next July (and WDW, if I can convince mum to take the long flight!). I think this was our best trip yet -- being there for 6 days in the summer is a blast, we had a busy time but had the time to take in every show, every single ride and watch all the parades and fireworks as many times as we wanted. And I finally got to meet my favourite Disney character -- Belle!

I love anything Disney; characters, parks, music, films, everything. I also love to read, write, and I studied media & film in college so I'm a huge film buff!!

Nice to meet everyone. :sunny:

Thanks for posting Rachel. :goodvibes As you see, I'm also from Cheshire, AND I visited DLP during it's Euro/Festival Disney days!!!

Hi rachelpixiedust,
could you tell us a little bit more about your meeting with BELLE! She is my favourite too, but I never met her in the park! :guilty:

We met her (and the Beast) last year in Belle's Christmas village.

Hi marcus.ka!

I wasn't aware that in DLP the Princesses actually come out to sign autographs and have pictures etc (friends have told me they do it in WDW) they certainly hadn't before my trip a month ago.
However, on my first day I went into the park and saw about 4 separated crowds of people in front of the castle -- all the princesses (Aurora, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, not sure about Ariel) had stands where they stood on top of them and people could queue up and have an autograph and a picture (and a hug!).
Belle's always been my favourite so I was desperate to get a picture and autograph! Me and my mum heard they came out at 1.30pm each day, so on my last day I got there for 1.15 and was first in line and got my picture!

Certainly something to look out for next time I go, as I think everyone was used to Minnie, Mickey, Pluto etc being around, so it was very busy and hectic when the Princesses came out!!

Just realised I've never posted on this thread (I don't think!) despite hanging around here for months!

I'm 20 and a student. I go to the University of Bristol, and live there during term time with 2 other disney lovers. In vacations home is Bromley (London/Kent & close to Eurostar!) with mum, dad and brother (17).

I study English Lit at uni, so I love reading, theatre, arts etc. I also love films and music, going out with my friends and, of course, Disney!

Before you ask, no, I don't want to be a teacher when I graduate (which everyone always assumes, but really, if all teachers were english grads nobody would learn anything useful!!), but I do wan't to go into the cliche field of media. Specifically magazines, and spent this summer interning at a magazine company who gave me a vague 'come back and we'll give you a job' offer - woo!

As you can see from my sig I've been to both WDW and DLRP before, and would love to make it to DL - I've been to Cali but we didn't do Disney that time. My next trip to DLRP is in a few days - eee! Can't Wait!

Lovely to find out more about you!! Have a wonderful trip to DLP on Tuesday!!!!

Hi missj171,
I would love to hear a little bit about your stay at the Dinseyland Hotel. We have been there two times and we loved it! :cloud9:

I also would love to hear about your stay at the Disneyland Hotel. We are booked to stay there during Christmas season for first time. We normally stay at HNY and LOVE it so it will have to be really good to justify the price difference between the two. Look forward to your comments if you get a minute.

Hi marcus and nicola,

Well I was only a kid at the time, so my memories are from a kids P.O.V., rather than an adults perception of it being clean, practical, good service etc!!

But I can remember that as a..however old I was girl..I put c.1999 because I know it was while I was in secondary school, and maybe the last time we went to France, before we started going to the U.S. a lot....so I'm guessing I was about 12-13? At the oldest! So a bit before '99 then, oh dear, I'm so confused!

ANYWAY!

I remember thinking it was so gorgeous when we checked in, and feeling so fancy and special because it was like, THE hotel! And because it was like a fairytale castle! I remember the rooms being nice, but wouldn't have much to compare it with at that age! I don't remember anything to do with food (unusual for me!).

I remember thinking it was so cool that we could leave our bags and go straight to the train and they'd be there. Of course that's just the Disney Express service, but my little self was convinced it was because we were like..special! (so presumptous!)

Not much use from a trip planning perspective, but if you have got DDs I'm sure they'll feel just as princessy and magical as I did (and would now, come to think of it!) To be honest its all a bit blurred with trips to WDW etc, which is a shame. But I know I thought it was fantastic!

That was the last time I went, so will be weird coming back now with a, supposedly, adult brain on me and knowledge of hotel standards etc.!

Now, that I've finally read all your bios, I thought I'd add mine. This is a great way to get to know everyone. You guys are so nice. I would love to meet up with some of you, when you visit WDW.

My name is Tammy (37). I live in Tampa, Florida, along with my DH, Kenneth (43), our DS, Kenny (13) & our mini-doberman, Molly. I am also a stay at home mom. I quit work to stay home when my son was born, then I got arthritis & a deterioating spine, so I've ended up staying home longer than I was planning to.

We have been to WDW more times that I can count. Now, we mostly go for the special events. Living an hour away, it's just so convenient to drive over, park our car, & not get back in it for a week. Then we only have an hour's drive home. We usually alternate WDW with USO now that our son is older. Unfortunately, my DH isn't as crazy about Disney as I am. To humor him, we haven't been to WDW in about 1 1/2 years. We had planned to spend Christmas 2004 there, but I wasn't feeling well & had to cancel. :( For the 1st time in years, we've been leaving the state for our major vacations. We cruised to Alaska in June & are cruising to the Caribbean in Nov. I hope to visit DL & DCA some day soon. I always said I wanted to visit CA, before it had a major earthquake & fell in the ocean. (Said tongue in cheek, of course.) Well, we visited San Francisco, CA this summer & they had 3 earthquakes in the state the week after we left. :scared1: I then felt guilty that I had even said something like that, even jokingly. :guilty: Anyway, I am now having serious Disney withdrawals. On our visit to Orlando in March, we ate at House of Blues & RFC @ AK. As we walked up to the RFC, my son said he was missing WDW & it was time to buy AP's again. :cheer2: I finally have 2 against 1 in my favor, so it won't be long. :p We're all (even DH) looking forward to visiting DLP in Jan. 2007. We plan to spend Christmas 2006 with friends in Tadley in Hampshire. We're touring different places in England & Rome with them. We'll be touring Liverpool, Paris, & DLP on our own. Can you tell I'm excited about our 1st trip to Europe.

My passions are travel & sports, esp. basketball & American football. I have to always have 2 or 3 trips in the planning stage at one time. My DH says I'm only truly happy, when I'm planning a trip. The sad thing is, he's right. :teeth:

Sorry, I don't know how to post pics. If I ever figure it out, I'll add one.
