Ok my turn,
My name is Peggie, and I am a pin addict.... oops, sorry, wrong meeting...

I live in Ct, one of the most beautiful states in the US. Fall is georgeous, but I still can't wait to move to FL someday, it gets too cold here.
I have 3 boys, David who is 26 and just moved out to his own apt. He works as a manager at CVS so when I move he can re-locate easily and plans on moving down to FL when I go. Sean who is 23 and probably won't move out till I move away. He is going to college now, finally, and talks about being a zoologist someday. Great jobs in AK I hear. And Chris who is 19 and moves in and out depending on what's for dinner. He is living away at college but it is only 8 minutes away so he drops in alot. But I love my boys more than life itself so I enjoy all the time I have with them.
We have 2 dogs that David claims to own, but he left them with me. Conan is 13, a mutt we got from the pound, and Gizmo is 2 and my baby. He is a fat miniature Doberman who I have on a diet right now.
We also have four cats, Mellow who is 7, and Orbit who is 5. Sean claims them as his. Coconut thinks he is a dog, and even eats only dog food, who is 4 and Wicket who is 3. Christopher claims them as his. The boys claim the animals, I just clean up after them and feed them.
Guess I can't complain though, David took the tarantula, 4 frogs, 2 scorpions,2 lizards, Snake fish, and boa constrictor with him when he moved out.
I was married for 13 years, and have been divorced now for 15 as of October 31. I guess I should say that the divorce is what got me so crazy about Disney. When my boys were young I could take them to WDW and always felt that they were safe. We could go to the parks and have a great time, and not worry about being mugged on the way back to our resort. And there was always something new to see and do. Unfortunately my boys are not as crazy as I am about the World and they have limited their trips to once per year now. But that won't stop me, I go as often as I can, averaging 4 or 5 a year. We are also BIG roller coaster nuts so I am glad to see more and more exciting rides coming to WDW, but we do always plan for a few days at "that other park" to get our coaster rides in.
I have a great companion who lives in my house. He enjoys WDW almost as much as I do so it is great to have someone to go to the parks with now that my boys don't want to go as often as before.
I am a nurse and work at Fairfield University, which is ranked as one of the top Universities in the North by US News and World Report. I have my Associate Degree and am only 3 courses shy of getting my BSN but who has time? Maybe someday, but the three courses I need are never scheduled when I am off work.
I started pin trading accidentaly. I picked up some of the Donald Magical Moments pins at TDS for $.90 each and thought I would trade them for pins I liked and end right there. Well there were more pins I liked than Donald pins I bought so I had to buy more. And then there were pins I saw that were no longer available so I had to trade.... And I became obsessed. When I started collecting I got the "have to get it's" and bought and traded for every pin. I am in the process now of cutting back and trying to consolidate my collection to a few groups. But it is hard to decide which will go and which will stay.
Mickey is my favorite. "Oh Mickey your so fine, your so fine you blow my mind, hey Mickey, Hey Mickey.... " Sorry, I heard that song this morning when the alarm clock radio went off and I can't get it out of my head. I don't like that $(^@# Minnie, she is my competition. Bet she never saw Mickey in a SPEEDO! But some of my favorite Mickey pins have her on them so I guess I have to put up with her. Unless someone can figure out how to cut her off the pins like I did with my wedding photos and my ex.
I have made some great friends through pin trading and enjoy all the meets and events when I can get together with the group. I see so many changes since pin trading started some good and some not so good, so sometimes I have to step back and clear my head. When I come to again, I run a pin swap. This always helps me see that there are many great people who trade and staying friends with them is what makes it worth staying in the hobby. Peggie

What a great thread! :) You all are so interesting!

I'm Amy, 33; wife to Jeff (visits the DIS vicariously through me) for 11 years and mom to Travis for 9 (going on 40!). Also cat-mom to Isabelle the tabby (16) and Naboo the living stuffie (2? 3? I forget ... ) and dog-mom to Shep, our crazed Border Collie/Rat Terrier (11 mos). We all live in a tiny house in -- brrrr! -- Michigan (all of us born & raised here).

BT (Before Trav) I was a technical editor for an environmental consulting firm. AT, I've worked part-time as an executive secretary for a local childcare chain and then as our church secretary (for the last 7-1/2 years) with some time doing retail thrown in for good measure. ;) I homeschool Trav, who is in 4th grade and became a fellow pin collector on our Disney cruise last month. :teeth:

I've loved and collected Eeyore for as long as I can remember but he must be GREY not BLUE!! I've also collected pins forever, but got into Disney pins with our first family trip to WDW in 1998. Dh loves anything having to do with the WDW trains and he's a big Grumpy fan (he's a very casual pin collector -- only things he really likes). Together, we collect DVC and Wilderness Lodge items.

Favorite pins: Anything grey Eeyore; patriotic Mickey; Beauty & the Beast; Tinkerbell; Kodak Film Developing series; License Plate series; favorite resorts & rides (I love lots more but those are the favorites I can put into "groups")

Hi my name is Brenda and I and my family are addicted to all things disney. I am married to Ron for 25 yrs next Feb. and have three children Pat 20 (muscian) Matt 17 (Jock) Lauren 15 (drama queen) we also have a house full of pets there is Ezzy short for Ezmeridella our 8 yrs Airdale terrier, then Walter and Aurua our 4 yrs old russian tortises(they live 50 or better yrs yikes) then there is little guy and itty bitty and they are red belly silders turtles (orphan) then we have a 75 gallon take full of frogs and lizards and who knows what 2-75 gal fresh water fish tanks and 2- 55 gl salt water tanks I think that is it unless Pat brought something else in when I was not looking, Ron and I went to Disney for the first time on our honeymoon then got busy with getting a home and kids so we did not get back till Pat was 7 Matt 4 and Lauren 2 . Well we all loved it but decieded we would go every other year ,that worked for about three yrs then we kept wanting to go back and did . We bought into DVC in 1996 and there has been no looking back since . next trip will be # 21 not bad from Boston The kids have been busy with school and sports so dad and I go without them if they can not make it. We have been collecting pins since the begining since money was tight that was how we did gifts for the kids we would get pins of the rides or hotel we stayed at and that made everyone happy. I would say in 2000 we really got hooked I was working parttime in the DS when the Mill pins came out and got them for stocking stuffer.Pat collects Goofy, Matt collects Donald and Lauren a little of everything Ron does Snow White and Jimney and I like any Walt pins or DVC and love the cruise line pins. We have convinced 20 of our family to come to Disney wth us for our 25th in Jan. We are doing the rooms with our DVC they just have to get there , it should be lots of fun and then maybe they will understand our obession with Disney
Take care Brenda

Hi Everyone
I'm late in adding, but here goes anyway.

I'm Maryann & I live in a 'burb of Dallas, Texas. Lived here my entire life except for college - UCF in Orlando. Sometimes I just shake my head & wonder why I moved back, but that's another issue.

I have four spoiled brat fur-kids that run my life. When I'm not being the dogs maid, cook and entertainment, I'm a Commercial Construction Estimator. Not glamorous, but it supports my bad habits. :smooth:

I started collecting pins in 2000, but didn't start trading until this last year. I've met so many great people online and I'm thankful for the boards & PinPics for the opportunity.

I'm wishy-washy about what I collect, but my main areas are Walt, Pirates, nostalgic, Patriotic, Holidays, etc. I've discovered myself to be a quitter, I'll get half finished with a set and lose interest. (again, another issue)

Other than pins, I have rooms filled with Disney "stuff" from snowglobes to cells to plates to figurines. I need more room.

Anyway, great thread - interesting reading about everyone!
