Getting to Know us 12/30

I'm dying to take them down the day after Christmas, but typically around New Years is when they are all down and my house is back to normal....

Well, as normal as you can get in this monkey house anyway.

Jan 1 -2 is the date this year. It's not the same every year; it depends on work schedules. I am ready for it all to disappear though.

I start taking stuff down little by little.. it seems to increase the size of my house that way!!!

I'm taking my tree down next weeked.. DH and the older boys need to climb up in the attic and grab the totes....

I brought all the outdoor items in the other day when it was 68 degrees!!!! :)
I'm going to bag up the outdoor items today (my snowmen, santas, angels, disney characters, trees)...
Today I'm going to take down all the door wreaths throughout the house and take the bathroom decorations (reindeers) down... I think I will also have the the kids box up their bedroom trees... DS12 needs to take down the lights in his room too...

but first I really need to get started on the day.. I have done nothing but ck the dis and watch TV! LOL

i usually do it very late on christmas night after everyone's in bed. so the 1st thing the day after its down and dh can put it all away for me if he's home. and if he's working then that night he can put it away. this year i did it the day after. it's all done, packed away and over. i have one snowman on the mantle holding a Happy New Year sign! moving on to the next thing i guess!

I love the decorations and I am not in any hurry to take them down. We turn off the outside lights on 1/2 and bring it in to the garage. The trees may start to come down this weekend.

It varies for us. DH honestly goes into a small state of depression after Christmas is over so I try to do it little by little to lessen the blow. Most likely this Sunday will be the big day though.

Traditionally we wait for Little Christmas (the 12th day of Christmas). It will probably be this coming weekend though. The tree is pretty dry.

We usually take them down around New Year's. But since our living room was tight this year with the tree and new leather furniture, we opted to take it down this past Sunday. Now our room has the end tables back in and the furniture is back in place. I just get tired of looking at all of it and when I get in the mood to take it down I am on a roll!

I take mine down the weekend after we return to school. School starts Jan 7, so will take down decorations on Jan 10 and 11.

Our lights stopped working :guilty: So, I could take them down now. But we are waiting till after New Years.

I'll probably start on Monday

Soon as possible. Usually before school starts back up. Not being here for a week and being able to water the tree. It is now very pathetic looking and you can hear the needles drop when you walk by.

Have to finish my swaps first.

We used to always take them down on Christmas Night! We have taken down all of the ornaments and most of the "sit-around" stuff, but the tree still hasn't been put up. DH said he'd do that tonight or, at the latest, tomorrow night. By Thursday, it'll all be up!!

As soon as I can. Most likely after new years this year. Normally the tree comes down a day or two after Christmas. That's about it for decoration around here so it doesn't take long. All the cards will most likely still be up through the end of the month. They're so pretty.

It all depends on the year. The latest I took down the Christmas tree ever was when I took it down the Monday after Easter- that was a few years ago when Easter was mid April. I generally take it down in January sometimes. I always put it up somewhere that it is not in the way so i take it down when the mood strikes or we are having company. I am planning an open house for the church at the end of January though so it will come down before then.

My goal each year is to have it down by January 1. Most times I have it done by then, but there are times when it doesn't get down until the 2nd or 3rd. I've been working on it the past few days and have made a good dent in it. I always leave the tree until last since it's my favorite and I just love looking at it. That will probably be down tomorrow and then DH and DS will get everything put back up in the attic on Thursday.

We are having one more "Christmas" get together on January !7th - with DH's family. So it will come down on the 18th- all of it! I love it but I also love it when it is all put away and not so cluttered.

I was so wondering this question!
Usually I would have spent this week putting Christmas away but since we bought the new cabinets for my scrap room the whole house looks like a tornado hit it! So Im slowly working on everything at once. A lttle here, a little there. Christmas will be done by next week.
The latest I ever was was the end of January. Rebecca, Easter? Did you hide eggs around it? Now I have kept the Nativity up into Feb. First thing to go up and last to come down.

We take down the tree and inside decorations the weekend after New Years. There was one Christmas I took it down that day because the tree fell over. LOL
