Getting to hotel from Amtrak station?

I have a coworker and her husband arriving via Amtrak around 10 a.m. next Friday.

What's the quickest way for them to get to their hotel? They are staying on Disney property, at the Caribbean Beach resort.

Are they coming into Orlando or Kissimmee? Orlando sucks, it's in a not so great part of town and is 20+ miles from WDW. Kissimmee is in a relatively safe area and is under five miles to WDW property.

From Orlando they should expect to pay $50 or more for a cab, from Kissimme it should run around $25. Both plus tip of course.

Thanks for the heads up, I just emailed her to ask her which station her ticket is to. I guess it wouldn't be hard for them to adjust it to Kissimmee, if they need to, at the station when they depart. I can't imagine it would cost any more than a $50 cab ride!

I'm trying hard to help her fix this trip - her daughter gave it to her as a Christmas present, but she really didn't know what she was doing.

There is usually no price difference between the two stations.

We took Mears shuttle to disney from orlando train station. Just call ahead and reserve and they will pick you up in a van. Around $20 per person if I remember correctly.

I take Amtrak to Orlando regularly from Sarasota because I am unable to drive due to a medical condition.

I pay $32 or $33 RT on the Mears Shuttle from Amtrak to the Disney hotels. I usually stay at Pop when I do my solo trips. It may be a couple bucks more to some of the other hotels.

If there are two people, it would be cheaper to do the shuttle r/t for them as opposed to a cab. Mears dispatch is just a couple blocks away from Amtrak so they usually arrive pretty quickly.

They will let you make a "reservation" usually, but they won't plan to pick you up until you call them when you actually arrive because trains are notoriously late.

Mears contracts with cab companies to do alot of these trips so they may very well send a cab for you. Also, on return, I suppose it could happen, but I have never had to share a ride with anyone coming back the way you do the airport.

Hope that helps.
