Does any one know it it realy is easier to go around. Or is the time/ gas not worth it?

Is it easier just to go through?
And is it as bad as people say? We will be ariving on a sunday between 12:00 and 3 pm We will be south bound

going at that time of day and on a sunday should be fine for you...I found going south during a weekend isnt really bad at all...Ive had people say to go the 210 but its way farther and I dont think its really worth the time or gas...just suck it up tirby:lmao:

North or Disneyland or South of Disneyland? yes, i you coming from North, then take 210 and down the 57, and exit ball. Though its like driving a big big box instead of cutting through it... so it might not be worth the gas.

South, isnt really not much traffic... you can also take the 57 or the 55 and exit off katella...

57 is a great route if you can divert to it.

I agree, we like the 57 if it works for you! Not sure of where you are coming from though and that would make a difference!

I'm not sure if they converge. We got to it from the 10 (we were coming from Phoenix).

Yes we get to the 57 from the 210 coming from Las Vegas. Don't know if the 5 and 57 merge, hopefully one of our CA members can tell you!

Your 2 options coming from the North will be I-5 South straight to the Disneyland Dr. carpool lane exit (Harbor Blvd. exit otherwise) or going I-5 South to the I-405 South & taking the route mentioned above (Hwy 22 East, Harbor Blvd. North). Unless there's heavy construction or serious accidents, it probably won't be worth it to go around.

Since it's a Sunday, you should hit lighter traffic in general, but both routes are prone to some congestion (slow & go), but there shouldn't be anything rush hour-like.

I-405 between Hwy 101 (Sherman Oaks) up to LAX will have pockets of slowing through the canyon by Mulholland Dr. & the Getty Museum, past UCLA/I-10 interchange through Culver City & possibly to Hwy 90. Once you get close to LAX it should be free sailing.

I-5 may stop some near downtown L.A., by I-10 interchange, by I-710 interchange & possibly as you hit L.A./O.C. border, but hopefully not on Sunday.

If you're wanting I-5 straight, you'll want to make sure there isn't a Dodgers home game on Sunday at 1 PM. Dodger Stadium is right off I-5 before downtown.

With any luck, traffic will be light which may leave you with an easy trip either way.

Unfortunately, the 57 is only an option for those coming from the east or south & would be out of your way.

Have a safe trip!

Just curios, where do you exit I-5 on to 57?

Jackpirate:

You actually can't catch the 57 from I-5 South, but if you're coming I-5 North, you catch the 57 right before you catch the 22, just past Main St./Main Place (the mall on the right) & before Chapman Ave./State College/Angel Stadium exits.

From where?

Seriously, on a Sunday afternoon it should be smooth sailing. No rush hour to contend with. Only problem would be if there's an accident somewhere along the line, but all routes are subject to that kind of delay. Take the 5 and don't worry about it.

Hello Diser's!

I really hope you all can help me. I am a Disney fanatic. I love all things Disney. I have been to Disneyworld 18 times. But, only once to Disneyland, when I was a little girl. So, when my husband mentioned he had to go to a convention in Cali, in April. I got a great idea. Get babysitter at home, and go with hubby so I can go to Disney. I will be by myself. For husband will be at convention all day, and some of the night. Great idea right? Well, now, my only problem is, I m very bad with directions. I have to have a point a, and b, to navigate in the car. I hate being lost. I am pretty nervous driving in cali because of my bad direction problem, and driving in an unfamiliar place. I am staying at the renessaince hollywood hotel, which is near universal. So, now I need to find the best way to be able to travel to disneyland on the 20th and 21st pf April. What are my options? If I drive is it very hard to find? I know a taxi is out, I know the price of a taxi round trip, would far outweigh a rental car. Are there shuttles?. Please help me. I have to go to Disneyland. TIA everyone, and op, i dont mean to take over your post.

We come down through the grapevine, so we choose either of two ways. Half my family likes just taking the I-5 and hoping for a miracle, and the other likes to take the 210 to the 605 and then back on the I-5 for about 15 minutes. This has worked great a couple of times, but like any freeway, there is traffic sometimes. If the I-5 is jammed this way can sometimes save like a half hour, but it is a total guess. I just prefer taking the 5 and if we get stuck we do. (Which we have a LOT!)
