Getting to Discovery Cove from the CBR

Hello, my fiancee and I are taking a trip in mid-May to WDW and staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I have reservations for Discovery Cove for one of those days and my only concern is how to get there?
Does anyone have any advice? I don't mind paying (I'm sure, like everything else on vacation, it'll cost a fortune) but I don't know what the process is. Can I just get a taxi from our resort? Is it hard to get a taxi that early in the morning (~8:00am) in Orlando?
Thanks!

Hi & Welcome!

Getting to DC from CBR can be done a number of ways. You can get a taxi as you mentioned (but I don't know a cost on this!) or you could get the front desk to arrange Mears transport for you both.

Myself and DBF used Mears a couple of times throughout our last trip. We had the front desk call them for us the day before and book in a pick up time with them (they do pick ups early too!)

Then on the morning of pick up, we headed down to the lobby and awaited the yellow Mears shuttle. The drivers give you a shout once they arrive and there you'll pay upfront for either a one way trip or return trip. It cost around $16 each for a round trip *I think*

They'll then give you a little green slip to confirm payment and you board the bus. It'll drop you right outside DC for you to enjoy your day there. If you've booked a return trip, you just call them up from a pay booth around one hour before you wish to travel back. Then they'll arrange a time slot with you and just be out front at DC around the time arranged. They'll then drop you back off at CBR.

Hope that helps somewhat.

If you plan to take full advantage of what Discovery Cove offers and enjoy the all you can drink Budweiser products I would suggest a taxi. It would probably be around $20 each way and you are completely on your own schedule. The cab might be a couple of dollars more than that but if it is just drink an extra Beer at DC to make it right. Have fun, Discovery Cove is the greatest park ever!

Thank you so much for the suggestions and the warm welcome! That's actually great news that the front desk at our resort could call Mears if we went that way - normally calling taxis and such is no big deal but it's just one more thing that I'm worried about going wrong while on vacation...
So there's Budweiser in DC cove eh? I had no idea... Hmm... The question becomes, how much fun can I have at Discovery Cove without dehydrating and ruining the night we have planned at Epcot after DC?! ;-)

Thanks again! This site is great, I've learned so much just lurking around and reading all the posts!

With regards to the Bud :goodvibes My DBF was looking forward to the 'free for all' on the refreshments and I was dreading him getting in a state, BUT, he was that entertained with everything throughout the day I don't think we had a beer between us until we'd got changed at the end of the day and were waiting for our photo's :lmao: Beer seemed to be forgotten...
