Getting to Chef Mickey's from AKL?

We are planning on eating at Chef Mickey's for breakfast one morning before the parks open. Since there is no hotel to hotel transportation what is the best way to use Disney transportation to get to the Contemporary from AKL?

I'm not sure about getting there before the parks open, but I've stayed in the AKL several times and we always eat dinner at Chef Mickey's. The only way we ever get there is to take a bus to a park or the TTC and then hop on the monorail. Depending on your ressie and what all you want to accomplish it might be a little tricky, but not as much now since Fastpass was created Hope this helps I've never eaten breakfast there, but dinner has always been superb! You might also want to try the breakfast buffet at Boma in the AKL itself. Its something to think about

We went twice last year from AKL to Chef Mickey's. We had no problem catching a bus (they run quite early). We took the bus to Magic Kingdom and jumped on the monorail to the Contempory. I would leave 45 minutes before your PS time.

Great Post! We were just talking about it last night. We are going to the character dinner at Chef Mickey's. We more than likely will come back to AKL from wherever we are that day in the afternoon so the baby can have a nap and then go over for dinner before our reservation time.

Thanks for posting this question and thanks for the answers. I was wondering the same thing myself!!! We're doing Chef Mickey's the first night too, a tradition for us, but we usually have a car. This is our first time we'll be 100% on Disney transportation and I'm a little nervous about it.

Great post because we'll be doing the same thing one morning of our visit. If your PS is before the MK opening time, will the monorails be open that early from the TTC to CR?

I hope to get an 8:00 ressie for Chef Mickey's. Any earlier and I would have crabby kids by noon, and any later my husband will worry that we are missing something! Does anybody know what time the monorail starts running? I just wish AKL had a character meal.

I know you said "Disney" transport but don't rule out a taxi... costs a little money but is very direct and quick. We did a cab from BWI to GF one morning and it saved a lot of hassle!

Character Breakfast buses run every 15 mins from 7:00am-8:00am. The Magic Kingdom Character Breakfast Bus can take you DIRECTLY to the Contemporary resort. Just speak with the driver upon boarding.

However, if you wish to take the Monorail, it starts at 7:00am, and the bus can optionally drop you off there as well.

For DINNER... you have two choices. Catch the DAK bus, and transfer to the Contemporary bus there -OR- catch the MK bus, and either walk to the Contemporary, or take the Monorail over.

Tyler--that is great information. Funny you should post that tonight because I just found out this evening about the "character breakfast" busses that run. Interesting!

We have in the past taken resort transportation to the MK and then walked over to the Contemporary and Chef Mickeys--it takes about the same amount of time to do that as it does to walk to the monorail and then ride over to Chef Mickey's.

Enjoy your meal--we always eat breakfast there at least once during a trip.

Oh, and Tyler--I'm going to look for you next week when we are there!
