Getting to AK from resort for 8 a.m. Donald's reservation

I know the busses start running one hour before park opening (which on the day I am going is 9 a.m.). I am thinking that the character dining busses start running sooner than that (like 1.5 hours before) but I am second guessing myself now. Also, I think I have read that getting to AK early is harder than the other parks? I just don't know if I should plan on the bus or take a cab instead.

You'll definitely want to pick up the transportation guide at your resort when you arrive. I've heard the same thing (getting to AK before it opens is difficult) but never done it myself. As I understand it the busses to AK start 30-60 minutes before the park opens so that'd be out. Personally, I hate cabs but if you don't have a car of your own that may be your best option.

We had an 8:10 ADR at Tusker House in August. We were running a bit late and ended up taking a cab. It was great because we got there quickly and made our ADR on time. But the busses were running. In fact, the CM at the bus stop told us we'd just missed one when we got there at about 7:20.

I have read that you can catch a character bus for all parks other than Magic Kingdom starting around 7am. Magic Kingdom starts around 6:30am. We were there last week and had no problems with catching our bus for each character breakfast. As always, we never made it to the bus at the time we planned. We were late every morning, but made it to the breakfasts in plenty of time. We were quite a bit early for our Tusker House breakfast and got in as soon as we arrived.

We had an 8:15 am ADR for Tusker House and took the bus from All Star Music. We left the resort around 7:40 and had plenty of time to get there. The bus was not crowded.
