Getting tickets to watch a TV show being recorded

We'll be in the LA/Anaheim area in late September-mid October and I thought it might be fun to do something different like being an audience member for the taping of a TV show (sitcom etc).

My kids will be 13 and 17, which will rule out a lot of shows, but not all. This site gives some information, but not much. http://www.tvtickets.com/

Has anyone done this and if so, how did you get tickets, especially if you didn't have access to a printer, get to the studios etc?

TIA.

I've never done it, but that sounds like a lot of fun. I've looked into some of the tonight shows, but I've never even thought of the sitcom options.

On a side note - reading through the sitcom descriptions makes me groan inwardly at the cheesiness :rotfl:

You can go to the taping of Ellen Degeneres show, just need to try and get the tickets through her website and have lots of luck - they go pretty quickly!! My friend got tickets to it last September and said it was amazing experience.

Some shows can't guarantee admission even if you have tickets. I think this is the case with 'standby tickets' for some shows where it is a first come, first served basis on the day at the studio. If you can't get tickets, definitely try to do the Warner Bros Studio Tour at Burbank. You still get to see sets/props from shows and sometimes from what I've read if they're not filming on the day you may be allowed to walk on the set of shows like Big Bang Theory :)

I've not done any of the above myself as I've always stayed in Anaheim and was not willing to drive or get public transport alone but I believe there is a train that goes to Burbank from Anaheim, but you'd have to rely on the train schedules to fit with the filming times. I'm sure the hotel where you're staying would be happy to print any tickets out if needed.

When we were in LA last year we did ALL the studio tours Paramount, Warner Bros and Universal, we were also staying down the Road from Jim Henson :)
If your interested I can give you a run down on "our" thoughts on all three.

If you get tickets for TV show taping be prepared to give up 3/4 of a day it's not a fast procedure. Ellen is really hard to get but it's not unheard of and you call on the day, you need to check her website.

Just a heads up, there were giving out tickets to Jimmy Fallon which I think would be great to see on the Hollywood walk!!

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

We tried to get tickets to a number of shows including Ellen and had no luck unfortunately. One of the days we were there we did the Warner Bros tour which we really enjoyed and as they weren't filming we went on the Big Bang Theory set which was pretty awesome considering we're huge fans! On the same day Ellen was actually taping an outdoor show live with One Direction so whilst we couldn't see we could hear the concert (and screaming!) whilst we were touring which was kind of fun.

Thanks for all the feedback. :)

From the little bit I've read here and there, it seems as though it's a bit hit and miss as to whether people can get in. I'm not keen on wasting a day hanging around only to miss out on being admitted, so we might skip it this time.

The Warner Brohters tour sounds interesting though, so I'm going to look into that a bit more. Thanks for the suggestion. :thumbsup2

Even try for a few shows on the same day. They can cancel filming at very short notice so then you have a back up
